NFL Futures Betting – 2008 Kansas City Chiefs Wagering Outlook
Despite having a running back in high-priced veteran Larry Johnson, that has rushed for over 1,500 yards twice in his young career, the Kansas City Chiefs, (4-12 SU, 7-8-1 ATS, 8-8 O/U) fielded the NFL’s second worst rushing attack in 2007 and generally looked totally inept on offense as they also ranked 31st in overall offense in the Our best Sportsbooks.

While the Chiefs were one of the league’s worst offensive teams last year, Kansas City did manage to rank 13th in overall defense under defensive-minded head coach Herman Edwards.

Naturally, the inept Chiefs’ front office used the fifth overall draft pick to nab a defensive player in former LSU defensive tackle Glen Dorsey a player the coaching staff is expecting to make an immediate contribution in 2008.
While Kansas City management thinks the team will be better than the dismal 4-12 record they posted in 2007, BetUS online NFL bettors should know that the Chiefs have largely grasped at straws in addressing their offensive problems and focused far too much on their strengths far more than they should have.
Despite going an atrocious 1-6-1 against the spread, (ATS) at home, Kansas City put NFL bettors in the black on the road, going 6-2 against the spread on the road.
The Chiefs posted a respectable 5-3 record in Over/Under, (O/U) wagers at home while going a polar opposite 3-5 in O/U spread on the road. In addition to Dorsey, the Chiefs grabbed two other players with their other top two picks that will likely open the season as starters in left tackle Branden Albert and cornerback Brandon Flowers.
Kansas City also has a new offensive coordinator for 2008 in longtime NFL coach, Chan Gailey, who was brought in to help improve Kansas City’s anemic offense.
With a core of wide receivers that leaves a lot to be desired, not to mention an offensive line that should be mediocre at best in 2008, the Chiefs have the look of a non-playoff participant once again in what could be Edward’s final season at the helm.
Here is a look at the Chiefs’ 2008 Draft Picks, followed by their 2007 team statistics and 2008 NFL Odds in the Our best Sportsbooks:
