2008 Washington State Cougars Football Wagering Preview
Strengths
While the offense is expected to be a strength for the Cougars in 2008, the team could falter, particularly early on as Washington State will be going with a first-time starter at quarterback in Gary Rogers who has an excellent go-to target in wideout, Brandon Gibson who caught 67 passes for 1,180 yards and nine scores last season.
If the Cougars have trouble running the ball however, passing the ball will be more difficult for the inexperienced Rogers.
Weaknesses
While he defense returns eight starters, the fact of the matter is that not many of them are very talented as the Cougars allowed a whopping 418 yards per game last season.
Wulff has also had several players change position during spring training including cornerback Chima Nwachukwu who may move to safety.
The Cougars also lost two starters along the defensive line including defensive end Andy Mattingly who led the team in tackles and sacks last year.

The Washington State Cougars will be led by first-year head coach Paul Wuff in 2008 after posting a dismal 5-7 record in 2007 that included an equally poor 3-6 mark in Pac-10 play.
With Wulff bringing his no-huddle brand of football to Washington State and the team’s strength being on the offensive side of the football, the Cougars figure to score plenty of points for the Top Sportsbooks NCAA college football online sports wagering community while trying to reach the .500 mark at the very least.

2008 Analysis
While the Cougars defense should be a bit better from last season, the Cougars’ offense will likely take a small step backwards for this club that posted respectable online wagering statistics last season despite their poor record.
Expecting anything more than a straight up record that hovers right around .500 would be asking for too much.
