NBA Betting – Melo, A.I. Look For Answer To Stopping Powerful Celtics?
The Boston Celtics, (41-9 SU, 31-17-2 ATS, 23-26-1 O/U) have succeeded without Kevin Garnett, winning five consecutive games and eight of ten before the all-star break without their vocal and emotional leader and will look to continue their torrid pace of winning tonight against a Denver Nuggets, (32-20 SU, 27-25 ATS, 27-25 O/U) that has struggled all season long in its maddening search for consistency.
The good news for the C’s is that they could have Garnett back in the lineup tonight for the first time in nearly a month as they look to improve on their perfect 17-0 record against the western conference this season.
Garnett’s absence, however inconvenient for the Celtics, has been a blessing in disguise according to head coach Doc Rivers as several of the team’s younger players have been forced into maturing quicker than expected with some on-the-job-training.
“Maybe at the end of the day, in a crazy way, it might be a good thing for the other guys, getting confidence,” Rivers said. “Kevin’s getting rest. So maybe that’s a good thing.”
Garnett, who has averaged 19.2 points and 9.9 rebounds in his first season with the Celtics has been the anchor of the best defensive team in the league this season, (89.4 ppg) and has pronounced himself totally fit following Sunday’s All-Star contest.
“I’m back to my old self again,” Garnett said Sunday.

Even at full strength, the Celtics will likely have a knock-down, drag-out fight on their hands with the Nuggets despite their inconsistencies this season.
The Nuggets entered the all-star break having won six of their last eight games, though they lost their last contest to the Orlando Magic 109-98 last Wednesday.
With two of the top scorers in the league in Allen Iverson, (26.5 ppg) and Carmelo Anthony, (26.2 ppg) the Nuggets are undoubtedly one of the best offensive teams in the league, averaging a whopping 106.7 points per game.
The Celtics routed the Nuggets early in the season, winning 119-93 at home on Nov. 7.

Analysis: While I think the Nuggets are going to put a serious fight against the Celtics tonight, I am going with the C’s to remain perfect against the western conference for at least one more game, by limiting the Nuggets’ offensive opportunities with their stellar defense. I’m also sensing a big outing from Boston’s Ray Allen after he scored 28 points in the all-star game and narrowly missed earning his first all-star game MVP award.
