NFL Futures Betting – 2008 Arizona Cardinals Wagering Outlook
The Arizona Cardinals, (8-8 SU, 9-7 ATS, 11-5 O/U) recorded a solid 8-8 record in 2007 in head coach Ken Whisenhunt’s first season at the helm after serving as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ tight ends coach and offensive for three years in each position.
Now, the Cardinals have the look of a team that is tired of wallowing in mediocrity and is genuinely ready to do something about it.

Here is a look at the Cardinals’ upcoming 2008 regular season, followed by their 2007 NFL statistics, 2008 NFL Draft Choices and 2008 NFL Odds in the Our best Sportsbooks.
Despite their mediocre straight up record last season, the Cardinals were money in the bank for BetUS NFL bettors as they recorded stellar ATS records, both at home, (5-3 ATS) and on the road, (4-4 ATS), not to mention their excellent 11-5 O/U which includes a solid 5-3 O/U home record and 6-2 O/U road record.
The Cardinals are hoping quarterback Matt Leinart can finally wrest the starting quarterback job away from veteran Kurt Warner once and for all this season, but will go to a two quarterback system if necessary again in 2008.

Veteran running back Edgerrin James is the featured ball-carrier for the Cardinals with fullback Tim Castille playing along side of him. The Cardinals have veteran Michael Shipp as James’ backup.
Veteran tight end Leonard Pope may lose his starting spot to second-year man, Troy Bienemann while trying to bounce back from a dislocated ankle and fractured leg.
The Cardinals have arguably the best pair of wide receivers in the game in Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, though Fitzgerald is unhappy with his contract and has said he wants to bolt the desert ASAP.
Backups Steve Breaston, Early Doucet and Jerheme Urban will vie for time off the bench.
Arizona’s offensive line, a problematic are for years, should be better than ever as the entire starting unit returns intact, something that has happened to the Cardinals just twice sine the franchise moved to Arizona in 1988.
Left defensive end, Darnell Dockett recorded nine sacks in 2007 and reached Pro Bowl status while nose tackle Gabe Watson and right defensive end, Antonio Smith are solid but were forced to play too many snaps last season, meaning the Cardinals will need one of the defensive linemen in their defensive rotation to really step forward in relief next season.
The Cardinals also have an athletic group of linebackers, even if they aren’t household names at the moment. Chike Okeafor, Karlos Dansby, Gerald Hayes and Travis LaBoy are the starters, but Clark Haggans and Bertrand Berry will push for starting positions.
While the Cardinals drafted the athletic Rodgers-Cromartie with their first selection in this year’s draft, Arizona already has one of the better defensive backs units in the game in underrated cornerbacks Rod Hood and Eric Green, while former cornerback Antrelle Rolle moves from cornerback to free safety and strong safety Adrian Wilson is one of the best in the business at his position. Rodgers-Cromartie will likely play nickel back this season while Aaron Francisco is the first safety off the bench.
Place kicker Neil Rackers has a powerful, but often, inaccurate leg while veteran punter Dirk Johnson will take over the punting duties for Arizona this season.
The Cardinals also completely restructured their scouting department in an effort to do a better job of drafting and scouting college players in the near future.
I don’t know how else to say it, but BetUS NFL bettors that are looking for a legitimate ‘surprise team’ for the 2007-08 NFL season, may want to take a long hard look at the Arizona Cardinals as this franchise is now clearly headed in the right direction under Whisenhunt.
