NFL Football Betting – Super Bowl 2009 Futures
If you want to do some NFL betting on the Cincinnati Bengals’ chances of winning Super Bowl XLIII, now’s probably the time. The Bengals slipped to a 7-9 record last season, ended up in third place in the AFC North division (behind both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns), and were not a serious contender for a playoff berth.
So if you think Carson Palmer and company can turn it around in 2008 and get back to the postseason you can currently get them at longshot +4500 sports betting odds to win the Super Bowl. However, Palmer is going to need to throw the ball to someone for them to pick up victories, and star wide receiver Chad Johnson might not be around for the season.
Johnson still hasn’t decided whether he will report to Bengals camp, and he has been angling for a trade to another team throughout the offseason.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh is also reportedly unhappy with his contract, while Chris Henry was waived because of his off-the-field issues. All that uncertainty caused the Bengals to grab some wide receivers in the entry draft, and they’ll see how the new guys fit in during their upcoming workouts.

So how far down the Super Bowl odds list are the Bengals? Well, 14 other teams are sitting above them on the list, with the Patriots leading the way at +350 football odds. New England might have faltered in the championship game last year, but oddsmakers and bettors still remember that 16-0 mark in the regular season and Tom Brady’s big stats.
Sitting behind the Patriots on the list are the Colts (+700), Chargers (+800), and Cowboys (+900), with the Jaguars rounding out the Top 5 at +1400. The New York Giants might be the defending champions, but they don’t seem to have ‘dynasty’ written all over them – they’re at just +1800 odds to repeat as Super Bowl winners. That puts them behind even the Packers, who are listed at +1600 despite Brett Favre’s retirement.
The Eagles (+1800), Steelers (+2000), Vikings (+2200), Seahawks (+2400), Saints (+2500), Browns (+3300), and Titans (+3500) are also ahead of the Bengals on the Super Bowl odds chart, with the Broncos and Redskins sharing their line at +4500 odds.
Bigger underdogs include the Cardinals, Panthers, Bears, and Buccaneers (all at +5000), with the Jets and 49ers at +6000, and the Ravens at +6600. The Texans finished at 8-8 last year, but they’re still only at +7500 odds to win this year’s Super Bowl. The Lions are also at +7500, with the Bills, Dolphins, and Rams back at +8000.
The Raiders and Chiefs combined for just eight wins at the bottom of the AFC West last season, and they’re at +10000 and +14000 odds, respectively, to do a complete turnaround in 2008. The biggest longshot, though, is the Falcons, who also won just four times last year but are at huge +20000 odds to win Super Bowl XLIII.
