NASCAR Betting – Bank of America 500
By Cappers Picks Staff
Lowe’s Motor Speedway is the site for Saturday’s NASCAR betting action as the Nextel Cup series continues The Chase for the Cup in the Bank of America 500.
This will be race 5-of-10 in the chase with Jeff Gordon sitting atop the standings and teammate Jimmie Johnson in second just nine points behind. The duel owns eight wins combined at Lowe’s Motor Speedway with Johnson having five.
Both drivers will be among the favorites listed in the NASCAR odds for Saturday’s event and rightfully so. In addition to his three wins at Lowe’s, Gordon has collected ten top-5 finishes and twelve top-10’s.
Last week, Gordon led just one lap at Talladega but it was the one that counted most. It was Gordon’s sixth win at Talladega and fifth overall in 2007. Five wins ties him with Johnson for the most victories on the year.
In his last five races, Gordon has posted four top-5 finishes and four top-10’s for a sparkling average finishing spot of 4.6.
He hasn’t found Victory Lane at Lowe’s since 1999, but that’s likely to change this weekend, because Gordon enters this race with a ton of momentum and will be hard to beat at the 1.5 miles quad-oval.
Along with his eight career Lowe’s wins, Johnson has also claimed eight top-5 finishes and eleven top-10’s with a strong 6.2 average of finish. His most recent win here came in 2005.
In his last five races, Johnson has put up a victory, three top-5 finishes and four top-10’s for a stout average finishing spot of 5.2.
Updated odds to raise the Cup have Gordon and Johnson the favorites. Gordon at -125 and Johnson -105. Another victory on Saturday would put oddsmakers well on their way to looking very intelligent.
Can anyone beat Gordon or Johnson in the Bank of America 500? A likely candidate to do so is Tony Stewart (currently fourth in points). Stewart took the checkers here in 2003 and has six top-5 finishes and ten top-10’s in his career at Lowe’s.
Stewart has three wins on the year with all of them coming in the second half of the season following a slow start to the first half.
Saturday’s Bank of America 500 provides bettors an exciting opportunity to build bankrolls. The green flag waves at 7:45pm EST. Checkout all the odds for this race and the head-to-head matchups.
