Finally, the Sun Devils are ranked. They come into the AP rankings at 23rd in the nation. I’ve been saying all along that this team is one of the better teams in the country and I stand by that assertion.
Last week, ASU sported the Oregon State Beavers a 19 point lead and then pounded them into submission, barely covering the –11 BetUS against the spread line by beating the Beavers by 12 points. The fact that they came back from a 19 point deficit against an Oregon State team tells you that this team has guts. If Coach Dennis Erickson can get his fellas off to a fast start in the rest of the games this year, then watch out. I still maintain that this team is the only team in the Pac-10 that can take USC the distance. They play great defense when required to do so and I can’t wait to see the College football betting lines versus California, Oregon, and USC.

First of all, I will never, ever bet on a team named after a color and whose mascot is a fir tree. Okay, that’s not true, but it’s funny, right? Stanford is just terrible. No, check that, they are horrible. Sure, they put up 31 against the Oregon Ducks last week in one quarter but look what happened after that. They didn’t score a single point in the second half and Oregon just trampled all over them.
The Cardinal coach, Jim Harbaugh, isn’t in the same league as Dennis Erickson and I expect him to get his butt whipped in the game planning department.
The Sun Devils also bring brilliant quarterback Rudy Carpenter and tough as nails running back Ryan Torain to this party. Yes, ASU so far has had a rather soft schedule, but Stanford won’t pose too much of a problem for this still underrated team.
In last year’s game between these two teams, ASU won 38 to 3. The Stanford quarterback, T.C. Ostrander, went 7 for 25 and threw an interception. Home field doesn’t mean that much in this game, and Ostrander could do the exact same thing this year.
Expect the Sun Devils to come out strong in this game and bury the Cardinal by the third quarter. In the fourth quarter it will be all about Torain and that ASU rushing attack.
