Golf Betting – Mickelson headlines Pro-Am field at Pebble Beach
Our Sportsbooks: Phil Mickelson didn’t quite come up with a win in Scottsdale’s FBR Open last weekend, so he’ll be looking to get back on top this week when he headlines the field for the annual Pro-Am tournament at Pebble Beach. And with Tiger Woods skipping this California event, those doing any golf betting will see Lefty pegged as the tourney fave.
Mickelson shot a 67 in the final round of the FBR Open to get to 14-under and force a playoff with J.B. Holmes, who birdied the 18th hole to get to 14-under as well. However, Holmes got the best of Mickelson on the extra hole to take the tournament title.
Charles Warren finished third in Scottsdale, one stroke behind the leaders. Stuart Appleby, Steve Elkington, Kevin Na, Kevin Sutherland, and Ben Crane all ended up tied for fourth place at 12-under, with Boo Weekley and Mark Wilson just back at 11-under. Woods was absent from that event as well; he was picking up a victory on the Euro tour.
Mickelson will certainly be comfortable competing at Pebble Beach this week – he’s the defending champion at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. In that 2007 event Mickelson shot a closing-round 66 to win by five strokes over Sutherland at 20-under. John Mallinger was third at 14-under, with Greg Owen and Davis Love III at 12-under. Matt Kuchar, Jim Furyk, Corey Pavin, Ted Purdy, and Ryan Armour filled out the Top 10.
Mickelson also won this event in both 2005 and 1998, while Arron Oberholser came up with the victory in 2006. Vijay Singh was the winner in 2004, while Love III is a two-time champion (2003 and 2001). Where do all those defending champions sit on the Top Sportsbooks golf odds list for this tournament? Here are the top lines for the Pebble Beach Pro-Am:
Odds To Win AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am
Phil Mickelson +350
Jim Furyk +1100
Padraig Harrington +1600
Mike Weir +1600

Davis Love III +5000
Pat Perez +5000
Only professionals can actually walk away with the actual tournament title this week; amateurs can vie for the team competition. Celebrity amateurs scheduled to appear at Pebble Beach this week include NFLers Dan Marino, Drew Brees, Emmitt Smith, and Lynn Swann, and actors Andy Garcia, Ray Romano, Kevin Costner, and Don Cheadle.
Meanwhile, the European Tour will be in Asia this week for the Indian Masters. Woods won that tour’s Dubai Desert Classic last week, shooting a 65 in the final round to win by one stroke over Martin Kaymer. Ernie Els stumbled to a 71 in the fourth round to end up two strokes behind Woods in third place after having the tourney lead at one point.
Woods, though, won’t be competing in the Indian Masters this week; his official website doesn’t list what his next event will be, but he’s committed to the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship at The Gallery at Dove Mountain near the end of February. That means that Els has instead been pegged as the favorite for the inaugural running of this Asian stop of the Euro Tour; here are the top lines for the event at Delhi Golf Club:
Odds To Win Indian Masters
Ernie Els +300
Jyoti Randhawa +1200
Simon Dyson +2000
Graeme McDowell +2000
Jeev Milkha Singh +2200
Arjun Atwal +2500
Thongchai Jaidee +2800
Prayad Marksaeng +2800
Darren Clarke +3000
Shiv Kapur +3000
Thomas Björn +3500
Gonzalo F-Castano +3500
Alexander Noren +3500
David Howell +4000
Joost Luiten +4000
The European Tour will stay in Asia next week for the Indonesia Open, while the PGA Tour will next stage the Northern Trust Open at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California. Charles Howell III is the defending champion at that event. Check the Top Sportsbooks golf lines section for all of the latest odds and futures for these tournaments.
