No notable injuries for either team. That means that this will come down to which team plays better defense. I don’t know why, but this Arizona team just feels special to me. They play better defense then any other Arizona team I’ve seen in probably the past ten years. Not only that, but their freshmen, the other one in the Pac-10 that isn’t name Mayo or Love, is more impressive to me then either one of those guys has been.
The reason is that Arizona freshmen Jeryd Bayless is a college basketball player. Mayo and Love are just playing this year to qualify for the NBA draft. Bayless reminds me of a Mark Macon or Steve Alford type – – he may not make it to the NBA as a lottery pick, but he will carry his team deep into the NCAA Tournament.
Because of that I actually like the Wildcats in this game. They can play man-to-man or zone versus the USC Trojans. The Trojans have a tendency to rely too much on Mayo. If they do that at any point during this game, then the Wildcats could go a decent run.
