The Jets, flying in the NHL’s stratosphere for some time now, travel to the eastern seaboard to tangle with the limping New Jersey Devils. Those Devils will try to drag their competition down to Hell, so to speak, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Winnipeg Jets
The Jets currently sit third in a very good Central division, divisionally matched perhaps only by the Atlantic. The Central has Nashville, Winnipeg, Minnesota and Colorado all playing like studs right now. The Jets are successful thanks to a ton of goal scoring, which has been accelerated even more lately with the hot streak of Finn sniper Patrik Laine. There’s lots of other talent on the Jets, namely, captain Blake Wheeler, consummate pro Mark Scheifele, Michigan product Kyle Connor and fellow talent Nic Ehlers.

Winnipeg has the depth that Stanley Cup-aspiring teams covet, but the Jets have only been mediocre at stopping pucks thus far. They seem good enough though, between Conor Hellebuyck and Laurent Brossoit, and the goal scoring and power-play are just so lethal, it makes defensive play damn near superfluous.
New Jersey Devils
The Devils bring a money PK unit to the table, and that’s about it in terms of notable pluses. Sure, winger Taylor Hall brought in all kinds of hardware from his amazing performance last year, but he has been just very good this year rather than outstanding.

Kyle Palmieri has been a notable sniper this season, netting 12 goals so far. We should also acknowledge that erstwhile backup goalie Keith Kinkaid has been really solid in starter Cory Schneider’s absence (concussion). Still, it’s been an ongoing trend for so long in the tri-state area swamp – the Devils don’t really score enough to be a serious threat. Today’s game is a high-flying, high-scoring affair, and the Devils aren’t really equipped to play that style of game.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Jets are 9-3 in their last 12 Saturday games.
- Jets are 38-13 in their last 51 vs. a team with a losing record.
- Devils are 1-5 in their last 6 overall.
- Devils are 1-9 in their last 10 vs. a team with a winning record.
Free Winnipeg Jets vs. New Jersey Devils NHL Prediction:
If it’s just down to talent, the visiting Jets should light the Devils up pretty good. It’s not always down to that, and sometimes Jersey can employ their defensive style that can stifle a prolific team like the Jets, but the odds are against it. I like the Jets here to win at the Prudential Center quite easily.
Expect Wheeler, Schiefele and Connor to make some sweet music. And if Laine gets a micro-second to shoot high in the slot, oh boy. Apologies to Mr. Kinkaid.
