Round 2 hasn’t disappointed thus far for any of the series. We saw a lot of what was predicted in game 1, but things took a laid back approach in game 2 with defence and goaltending stealing the spotlight.
With the series shifting to Pittsburgh, expect more of what we saw in the opener Monday night.
We saw both sides of the Penguins team in the first two games of the series.
The high-flying offensive minded Pens lost game 1, while the stout defensively Pens took game 2.
Splitting the series in Washington is a huge win for this team who get to play at home where they were so good since Christmas.
I can’t stress enough how important this teams depth is, and it showed as most of the goals scored in the first two games came not from the Crosby or making lines, but from third liners and time fillers.
Pittsburgh did everything right in both games but just came up short in game 1 and the next two games will be huge for the home team.
Washington didn’t want to come to Pittsburgh with the series tied, they knew that coming to the CONSOL Energy Center was a tough place to play and win.
Holtby came up big in game 2 but it wasn’t enough for the win and the fate of this series surely lies on his shoulders.
For as good as Washington is, they have been a one trick pony for most of the playoffs, relying heavily on goaltending and the scoring abilities of their first line.
Pittsburgh is doing a great job of sitting down the Ovechkin line and that means the secondary scoring needs to man up If they hope to make it to the conference finals.

Free Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Washington Capitals NHL Hockey Prediction
The series is tied but from watching both games, most people are gonna be giving Pittsburgh the edge here. Both teams have done everything correct in shutting down the town lines but that is where the Pittsburgh depth is so key.
Look for much of the same from game 1 as the Pens simply outplay the opponent. Holtby will be the key tonight and I don’t think he can fend off this team enough.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Penguins ML
The main play here is taking the Pens on the ml, but the over is also a good play.
As stated above the Penguins have too many weapons and Washington can’t slow down all the lines while trying to keep the main line out.
NHL Free Score Prediction: Pittsburgh 4-1
Look for the Pens to make a statement here with a big win.
