After an exciting, action-packed game one that saw the San Jose Sharks win 5-2, the Golden Knights will again be in enemy territory for game two on Friday night.
Vegas Golden Knights
In game one, the Vegas Golden Knights weren’t at their best. The defense struggled to contain a veteran-led Sharks offense and, frankly, goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury was less than stellar. Fleury has struggled since coming back from injury/paternity leave. In the last two games of the regular season, he gave up four goals and each, and then gave up five in the first game of the playoffs.
Little else went right for the Golden Knights in that first game either. The offense scored just twice on 28 total shots. Both goals came from Mark Stone, who has been fantastic since coming to Vegas. However, Vegas will need much more from its other top scorers like Reilly Smith and William Karlsson to keep up with San Jose.

Along with Stone, the only other Golden Knight to truly have a strong game was Max Pacioretty. He had two assists but didn’t get a single shot on goal. Look for that to change in game two.
San Jose Sharks
The scoring flood gates didn’t exactly open for the San Jose Sharks in a conventional way. The first goal of what should be an exciting series between the Sharks and Golden Knights came off of captain Joe Pavelski’s mouth. While in his usual spot in the front of the crease, a Brent Burns shot bounced off of his face and into the goal. He got credit for the goal, but lost teeth in the process.
And, if you’re worried about a sore jaw affecting his status for game two, there’s no need to be. The tough-as-nails captain will be ready to go on Friday night.

Pavelski’s bizarre goal was just the beginning of a strong outing for the Sharks at home in game one. The team put up five goals and we’re extremely impressive defensive, allowing just two. San Jose improved to 33-0 this season when allowing two or fewer goals. Take note of that trend as this series progresses.
Some may have thought that this Sharks team would look shaky in the first round, especially after winning just three times in the final 12 games of the regular season. That wasn’t the case. This San Jose squad looks ready to content for the Stanley Cup, and it has a strong shot at going up 2-0 in this series before heading to Vegas.

Free Vegas Golden Knights vs. San Jose Sharks NHL Prediction:
San Jose will take a 2-0 lead in this series, if game one’s performance continues into Friday night. This Sharks team is extremely tough to beat, especially at home. I like San Jose to get a close, one-goal win in this one.
4* Free NHL Playoff Betting Pick: OVER 6.5
Keep betting on the over in this series, because the Sharks can really light the lamp and Vegas doesn’t lie down and get shut out in games. The Sharks will put up numbers in this game, and the Golden Knights should keep things a bit closer in game two. I’ll take the Over here.
