After winning six straight, the Canucks have lost the last two in very close fashion, and will look to get back to their recent winning ways against the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Flyers have one win in their last eight games and are starting to see their playoff hopes dwindle in the extremely competitive Metropolitan Division.
Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks finished 2016 and started 2017 strong with a six-game winning streak, but have since lost the last two to Calgary and Nashville.
What worked for Vancouver in that winning streak was solid offense.
The Canucks scored three or more goals in each of those six games. That is clearly the X-factor for them, considering the two losses since, the Canucks have only scored one goal in each.

On the season, the Canucks ranks 21st in goals scored, with 106. That’s an average of 2.47 goals per game, which isn’t conducive to winning a lot of games when they give up an average of 2.86 goals per game (123 on the year).
Where the Canucks need to focus against a solid Flyers team is the offense. Guys like Bo Horvat, who has arguably been the best player for Vancouver this year, need to step up.
Horvat has 13 goals and 16 assists on the year, including three goals and an assist in the last five games.
Philadelphia Flyers
You’d be hard-pressed to find a team with such a disparity between the quality of play on offense and defense. The Flyers are 5th in the NHL in goals scored with 124 and have had some really impressive offense.
The defense, however, ranks dead last in goals against with 133, and have lost a lot of games due to lack of defense and goaltending.
The Flyers were able to get by for the first couple of months of the season relying just on the offense, but the lack of D seems to have caught up with them.
Philly has won just once in the last eight games, and have been shut out twice in that stretch.

The defense has to play better because the offense is starting to waiver and can’t bail the team out in every single game.
It doesn’t help that the star of the team Wayne Simmonds (17G, 15A) only has one point, an assist, over his last five games. His lack of offensive generation has really hurt the Flyers.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Vancouver is 6-2 ATS in the last eight games
- The Total has gone OVER in four of Philly’s last six games
Free Vancouver Canucks vs. Philadelphia Flyers NHL Hockey Prediction:
The Flyers are still a better team than Vancouver, despite the current trends for both teams. If Philly can get the offense going, the team should grab a win at home.
I’m taking Philly to get the W.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Philadelphia ML
When you look at the Flyers’ squad compared to Vancouver, it’s hard to bet against a team with Wayne Simmonds, Claude Giroux, and Brayden Schenn. I like the Philly moneyline.
