The Toronto Maple Leafs, winners of five out of the last six, will look to continue a solid recent run against the New Jersey Devils.
The Devils, struggling to stay relevant in the very tough Metropolitan Division, will look to hold off the fast-paced offense of the Maple Leafs.
Toronto Maple Leafs
Toronto, an extremely young team, has really started to figure things out on both sides of the ice recently.
The offense is firing on all cylinders and the team starts a few fantastic rookies.
Auston Matthews, 2016’s 1st overall draft pick, has been brilliant. With four goals and five assists over his last five games, he is making a strong case for the Calder Trophy.
He has 20 goals and 14 assists on the year.

Fellow rookie Mitch Marner, while not as impressive of a five-game run, has still been playing great hockey.
He has two goals and an assist in his last five games and generates a lot of offense off of the impressive forecheck that the Leafs have.
Second year player William Nylander has played brilliantly as well. He has five points in his last five (2G, 3A) and is another of this young, fast nucleus of players that are the future of Toronto.
To beat the Devils, Toronto will need its young guns to generate the offense and keep pucks in the offensive zone by relying on that tough forecheck.
New Jersey Devils
7th in the Metropolitan Division, the Devils can pretty much kiss their playoff hopes goodbye, barring an unbelievable winning streak.
New Jersey’s defense has been horrendous.
The team is 24th in the NHL in goals against and has given up 115 goals on the year. This isn’t conducive to winning especially when you look at the fact that the team has only scored 92 on the year.
That minus-23 goal differential has really hurt this Devils team. New Jersey is fourth worst in the league in goal scoring.

Star acquisition Taylor Hall got off to a good start this year and has had a solid five-game stretch for the Devils. He has one goal and four assists over the last five.
Unfortunately for the Devils, they don’t have a multitude of Taylor Halls to generate offense. Right winger P.A. Parenteau has been the Devils other best option for scoring.
He has three goals in his last five games, giving him 11 on the year.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The Total has been UNDER in three of Toronto’s last five games
- The UNDER is 3-2 in New Jersey’s last five games
Free Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New Jersey Devils NHL Hockey Prediction:
Toronto is a better team as of late. With the young offensive weapons and the quick forecheck, Toronto should be able to keep the puck in the offensive zone quite a bit. I like Toronto to get the W on the road.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Toronto ML
The way this Toronto team has looked recently, I think it’s a pretty easy bet to take them in an underdog situation against the Devils.
