The St. Louis Blues will look to clinch a playoff spot with a win over the New York Rangers on Friday night at Madison Square Garden. However, the Blues fell to the Rangers in their last meeting on December 31st, 2018, as Boo Nieves sealed the victory with a goal in the second period in a low-scoring, 2-1 win.
St. Louis Blues
The Blues are third place within the Central Standings behind the Nashville Predators along with the Winnipeg Jets. However, while the Predators and Jets have clinched playoff spots, the Blues continue to battle the Dallas Stars for positioning.
However, St. Louis enter this matchup winners of four of their last five games, overall. And while they have shined all year on the defensive end, their offense has certainly stepped things up lately as well in averaging nearly 4.5 goals per game.

Ivan Barbeshev (13) got the scoring started for the Blues while Zack Sanford in addition to Ryan O’Reilly (27) each scoring goals in the win. O’Reilly also scored the one and only goal for the Blues in their last meeting versus the Rangers.
The Blues have dropped three of their last four games on the road. During this time, the Blues offense has only posted 10 goals.
New York Rangers
The Rangers will not be in the playoffs this season, however, will be looking to halt a two-game losing skid with a win over the Blues. However, their offense continues to stink it up while the defense has been just as worse in allowing 11 goals alone in their last two games.
They allowed six goals to the playoff bound Boston Bruins while permitting a total of 32 shots on goal. The Rangers, on the other hand, ended with 24 shots as Ryan Strome scored a goal while Mike Zibanijad scored his 29th and 30th goal of the season in power play fashion in the loss.

And while Zibanijad remains to be the point/shot leader for the team this season, he scored just his 3rd goal in the last ten games for the Rangers. New York has dropped two straight games at home entering this contest.
Chris Kreider may be missing on the defensive end along with left-winger Mark Staal are both questionable for New York for this contest due to lower body injuries.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Under is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings.
- Blues are 8-3 in the last 11 meetings in New York.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Under
Look for the under to be the strong play in this matchup as the Blues will put some goals in net, however, will neutralize the offense for New York, yet again, in what will be a 3-2 victory. The under is 3-1-1 in the last four road games for the Blues while their defense has allowed just two goals during this time.
NHL Free Score Prediction: Blues 2 – Rangers 3
The Blues have much bigger fish to fry as they attempt to remain in the playoff picture. A win over the Rangers will be imperative as they will pick up the all-important victory in the end.
