I love this matchup so much. Two of my favourite teams in the league to both watch and bet.
So this is a tough one to handicap it is going to be very matchup dependant with the Penguins being slight favourites on the road here.
The Blues are a bit heavier, more physical and can wear you down. But the Penguins play with a ton of tenacity and sheer will.
Crosby Malkin and Letang have for their whole careers instilled a culture in Pittsburgh that dictates that kind of play. They never give up on pucks and work as hard as they can come whistle to whistle.
Both of these teams have excellent goaltending right now from their respective starters, and both can light the lamp. Where I give the slight edge is to the Blues on defence.
So let us take a little deeper of a dive down the rabbit hole shall we?
Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins are the team I cheer for when the Oilers are ultimately eliminated. Just kidding, but not really.

This core is ageing and their window will start closing but right now they are rock ‘n’ rolling and look like they are still very much in their prime.
Jarry has been the story this year though. He has really elevated his game and taken a massive leap forward which has propelled this team into the contention they wanted to be in.
In the last couple seasons they struggled at the position with him, Desmith and Murray. Now that Jarry has settled into his net, this team is scary.
St. Louis Blues
The Blue had a similar issue with Binnington but Husso has come in for them is playing lights out. He is 15-4-2 with a 2.24 save percentage and .928 GAA.
The Blues sneaky have one of the best powerplay units in the league. Sitting at third overall if you get into penalty trouble against this team they typically make you pay for it.
The Penguins just so happen to be the least penalized teams in the league so I do not imagine that being an issue for them tonight.
