Tristan Jarry vs. Sam Montembeault
Oh boy, where do we even start with Tristan Jarry? The 2023-24 season was one for the history books—and not in the good way. For the first time in his career, the guy posted a losing record, going 19-25-5. Yikes. Pittsburgh Penguins
Following a 4-2 loss to the Maple Leafs, the Penguins dropped to 1-2-0 this season. Pittsburgh held a 1-0 lead after the first period, but Toronto responded with four unanswered goals. Kris Letang put the Penguins on the board at 9:02 in the first period, but the Maple Leafs tied it up early in the second and took control from there. Rickard Rakell scored for Pittsburgh in the third period, cutting the deficit to 3-2, but Toronto sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 19:38.

Evgeni Malkin picked up his fourth assist of the season on Rakell’s goal, while Sidney Crosby earned his third assist on Letang’s power-play goal. The Penguins took 23 shots on goal and recorded 9 giveaways.
Defensively, the Penguins will look to rebound after giving up four goals to the Maple Leafs, including the game-tying goal just 50 seconds into the second period. They also allowed an empty-net goal with 22 seconds left in the third. Goalie Joel Blomqvist made 29 saves with a 90.6% save percentage, while the defense added 12 takeaways and 13 hits.
