Coming off a 4-0 shutout win over the Florida Panthers, the Pittsburgh Penguins continue its road trip against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.
Buffalo, on the second night of a back-to-back after facing the Detroit Red Wings, will look for another win in what has been a disappointing year for the Sabres.
Pittsburgh Penguins
Pittsburgh shouldn’t have much trouble winning this game but the injury list is something to keep in eye on for this one. Evgeni Malkin has missed the last two games with a shoulder injury and his status for Tuesday is unclear. If Malkin is out, the Penguins will miss their second best player, a 33 goal, 39 assist scorer this season.
Defenseman Kris Letang has been on injured reserve since late February with an upper-body injury and there’s no timetable for his return while left wing Carl Hagelin is out for at least a month with a lower-body injury.

With Crosby on the ice, this game should still be winnable against a bad Sabres team. Crosby leads the team with 40 goals and 40 assists, including six goals and four assists over his last five games.
He’ll have help from left wing Conor Sheary, especially if Malkin is out, on the offensive end. Sheary has had a breakout year in his second season, scoring 20 goals and 27 assists. Over his last five games, he has two goals and six assists.
Buffalo Sabres
It’s been an all-around disappointment of a year for the Buffalo Sabres. In a year with plenty of hope thanks to a great 2015-16 rookie campaign for Jack Eichel, along with the likes of Evander Kane and Kyle Okposo, the Sabres haven’t lived up to that hope.
The team is poor on both sides of the ice, including the offensive zone despite having skaters like Jack Eichel. The Sabres rank 23rd in the league in goals scored (180) and don’t have many skaters getting things done.

Eichel has played well despite not having his season really start until mid-December. He has 20 goals and 29 assists in 51 games this season. Over his last five, he has two goals and two assists.
He’s been helped out by Evander Kane, Buffalo’s star left winger. Kane has 25 goals and 14 assists this season, including a goal and an assist over his last five games.
Right wing Kyle Okposo is the third highest goal-scorer on the team, putting up 19 goals along with 24 assists and has a goal and three assists over his last five.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Pittsburgh is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 games
- Buffalo is 3-10 SU in the last 13 games
Free Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Buffalo Sabres NHL Hockey Prediction:
This shouldn’t be too tough of a game for the Penguins. This team is one of the best, while Buffalo has officially become irrelevant in the playoff race this season. Pittsburgh should get the W in this one.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Pittsburgh ATS
Pittsburgh has one of the best offenses in the NHL. Against a team like Buffalo that struggles to score and prevent scoring on a nightly basis, Pittsburgh should be able to cover the spread in this one.
