Thursday night, it’s a Metropolitan Division battle as the Philadelphia Flyers head to New Jersey’s Prudential Center to take on the Devils. With Jersey taking two of the first three matchups, the Flyers will look to even up the season series.
Philadelphia Flyers
While the Flyers certainly aren’t happy with their season thus far, every game matters in this tough Metropolitan Division, as the team still has a shot at the playoffs. The team will be without one of its top players, Wayne Simmonds, who was traded on Wednesday to the Nashville Predators.

With Simmonds gone, captain Claude Giroux will have to pick up extra slack when it comes to scoring. He leads Philly in points with 65 (19 goals and 46 assists), but he’ll need continued help from Sean Couturier (25 goals, 34 assists).
New Jersey Devils
The Devils have gotten the better of the Flyers this season, winning the last two games after losing at home back in October. New Jersey has outscored Philly 6-2 in those two wins.

New Jersey will need to find ways to keep that wide scoring margin, considering how tough it is for this team to keep opponents off the score sheet. The Devils rank 28th in goals against and have allowed an abysmal 216 goals to date.
Offensively, a lot of the onus will be on winger Kyle Palmieri. He leads the team in goals (26) and total points (48). Look for him and Nico Hischier (17 goals, 26 assists) to carry the load for New Jersey.
NHL Betting Trends:
- PHI is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games on the road
- PHI is 14-4 SU in its last 18 games
- The OVER is 5-2 in PHI last 7 games
- New Jersey is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games
Free Philadelphia Flyers vs. New Jersey Devils NHL Prediction: Flyers ML
I like Philadelphia to even up the series here. The Flyers have been playing much better hockey as of late, and despite the loss of Wayne Simmonds, should prove to be the better team in this one. It won’t be a blowout, but Philly gets the win.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Flyers -125
-125 for the Flyers against a Devils team that has defensive issues is a pretty solid moneyline. Jump on it before it moves.
