The NHL playoffs are officially underway. Lines are going live with the most up to date being at BOVADA & You can check out BODOG if you’re in Canada. NHL Props, series prices, and game by game NHL lines are posted.
The Flyers and Canadiens have flip-flopped wins and losses so far in their Eastern Conference Quarterfinals matchup. That would bode well for Montreal considering Philadelphia scored the 1-0 win on Sunday.
Philadelphia does bring a 2-1 series lead into the Tuesday afternoon matchup. Games have been lower scoring, with all three falling ‘under’ the total thus far.
Philadelphia Flyers
Philadelphia has scored just 3 goals so far in the three games, but here they are with a 2-1 lead. Is this just a rough matchup with Montreal, or are the Flyers skaters ready to break out soon?
The Flyers did post the 7th highest scoring offense during the regular season with 3.3 goals / game. They were great in the round-robin restart as well, netting 11 pucks in three games.
Of course credit should be given to Carter Hart in net – for the most part. He let up 4 goals on 26 shots on game two, but otherwise has stopped 50 of 51 shots in the other two meetings.
Montreal Canadiens
It should really be considered anybody’s game on Tuesday. Two of the three games in the series have been decided by one goal and two of the three during the regular season went in to OT.
Montreal is searching for consistency on offense in game three. The Canadiens looked great in the 5-0 win in game two powered by multi-goal games from both Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Tomas Tatar but have scored just one in the other two games.
Carey Price has largely been good enough to win in every game thus far. He’s allowed just 3 goals on 81 SOG (.962) but Montreal is still down 2-1.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Under is 9-0 in Flyers last 9
- Flyers are 9-4 last 13 head to head meetings
Free Philadelphia Flyers vs. Montreal Canadiens NHL Prediction:
Montreal stays close against Philadelphia, but the +1.5 puck line price of -235 is a bit ridiculous. Instead, there’s no reason to think this one isn’t another low scoring affair.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Under 5
Price and Hart have both been solid (except for Hart in game two).
**NOTE** – The 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifiers will begin Saturday, Aug. 1 in Florida and Toronto. The top four teams in both conferences will play a 3-game round robin for seeding in the First Round. The 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifiers will be best-of-5 series with the losing teams being entered into Phase 2 of the NHL Draft Lottery.
