The Ottawa Senators will travel to Seattle to face the Kraken for the 2nd time this season. Seattle won the first match up quite convincingly 8-4 in Ottawa. This should be a very good game as both teams need the points and are fighting for playoff spots
Ottawa Senators
Ottawa will come into Saturday playing good hockey, going 6-3-1 over their last 10. They won’t be coming in on the highest note though. On Monday they dropped a 5-0 decision to the lowly Chicago Blackhawks. Although you could make the argument that Ottawa was the better team outshooting Chicago 35-21 but couldn’t solve Alex Stalock.
Offense
When it comes to scoring goals the Senators rank middle of the pack at 3.13 per game. Where the Ottawa offence is strong is with their power play they have the 6th best power play which converts at 24.5 percent. The Senators also shoot the puck a lot they tank in the top 10 in shots per game at 33.

Defense
Defensively the Senators are also fairly mediocre giving up 3.14 goals per game which puts them at 17th in the NHL. They are also middle of the pack when it comes to shots allowed per game at 32. One spot Ottawa is very strong at is their penalty kill. They will come into Thursday with the 5th best in the NHL killing off 83.1%.
Goaltending
Ottawa uses 2 goalies on a regular basis so its hard to predict who will get the call on Thursday, but a few sites I’ve seen have listed Cam Talbot as the expected starter he has 15-14-1 this season with a 2.85 goals against average and a fairly good .905 save percentage. He was held out of action on Monday for an injury concern so I would do a deeper look on who is starting closer to game time.
Seattle Kraken
Seattle comes into this game on a 5 game winning streak after picking up wins over the Avalanche and most recently a 5-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on. Seattle has been playing much better of late going 7-3 in their last 10.
Offense
You could say The Kraken’s offence is the best part of their team, they put up a really strong amount of goals at 3.49 per game which ranks them 5th best in the NHL. However that number is a bit of a shocker because they rank 27th in shots on goal per game at only 29.9 per game. Furthermore the power play is not good at all converting at only 19%. It is truly remarkable to see how many goals this team scores when their numbers are this bad.
Defense
Defensively the Kraken tend to struggle, but one thing they do well is keeping the shots on goal against to a minimum, actually 3rd best in the NHL at only 27.7 per game, but they give up a lot of goals at 3.15 per game which is a result of poor goaltending in my eyes. Personally I feel a big reason for that is the fact that the penalty is absolutely pathetic, only killing off 74% of opponent’s power play opportunities which ranks them at 26th in the league.
Goaltending
Philipp Grubauer should get the call for the Kraken on Thursday he has been playing much better recently winning his last 4 starts, and has not allowed more than 4 goals in his last 5 starts. Grubauer has a 11-11-3 record with a 2.96 goals against average and a .895 save percentage.

Free Ottawa Senators vs. Seattle Kraken NHL Prediction
With both teams needing points to stay in the playoff hunt, I think with the goalie concerns we have seen from the Senators I think Seattle is the play here they have been very good of late and I expect them to continue their win streak.
