Nobody is giving Ottawa much a chance Saturday from the Rogers Place but the value in this game really is on the Senators where a win would come with a +190 payout. Sure the Senators have lost two in a row, but they’ve also been winners in their last four at Edmonton.
In the big picture Edmonton hasn’t had a complete waste of a season as they are still just 5 points back of the 2nd wild card. The Oilers major problem is that a) they only have 8 games left and b) they have four teams to jump.
Ottawa Senators
So, what would justify an Ottawa win in this one? Besides winning their last four at the Rogers Place, for some reason the road team thrives in this H2H matchup as visitors have won 13 of 16.
The Senators have gone just 3-6-1 over their last 10, but that does include victories over Toronto (+225), St. Louis (+215), and Florida (+225). Ottawa is very profitable when they win, but only one of those (Florida) have come on the road.

As expected, the Senators are an atrocious 9-27-1 away from their own ice this year. It will be up to Craig Anderson to improve on that but he’s given up 11 goals in three straight losses.
Edmonton Oilers
Edmonton is a hefty -235 home favorite but it’s not above them to come out and lay an absolute egg. 10 days ago for example the Oilers fell 3-6 at home to New Jersey as astonishing -304 favorites.
The Oilers also needed OT to beat the Rangers as -167 favorites and both games were at the Rogers Place. Edmonton did get a 4-1 win over Columbus at home on Thursday but they’re still shaky on their own ice.

Mikko Koskinen will try to provide some stability to the home town crowd as he mans the goal. The Oilers defense does a good of limiting shots as Koskinen has faced 20 or less in 3 of 5 games. In two of those games he’s allowed 4 and 3 goals however in addition to surrendering 6 on 34 shots to Vegas last Sunday.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Senators are 16-38 their last 54 overall
- Senators are 17-57 their last 74 road games
- Oilers are 5-2 their last 7 home games
- Senators are 4-0 last four in Edmonton
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Over
Ottawa has a 6 goal and a 4 goal scored outing over their last 3 games. Edmonton has scored more than 3 just once in their last 8 contests but that usually changes against the Senators. This contest feels like a 3-4 game, it’s just hard to decide which team nets the 4.
