The Atlantic Division Maple Leafs head to Denver to take on the Central Division Avalanche. The last time these two teams met, in Toronto, the Avalanche left with a win after a 3-1 effort.
With both teams desperate for some wins in December, this will be a much needed game for either team to take.
New York Rangers
Unfortunately for the Rangers, they’re playing the next few games without one of their top offensive players. Right winger Rick Nash is on the injured list and his status is unclear for the game against Colorado.
Against a lower team like the Avalanche, you’d assume that the Rangers won’t risk him.

This means that the Rangers, who rank 2nd in the league in goals, will be looking for even more offense from left winger Jimmy Vesey (10G, 8A) and Michael Grabner (14G, 5A), among others. Chris Kreider has really stepped up as well. He has four goals and five assists in his last five games.
The Rangers have so many weapons that it should be pretty easy to beat a poor Avalanche team. Even without Rick Nash, the Rangers have an explosive offense that scores a lot of goals. 129 goals on the season, to be exact.
As long as the Rangers don’t make a lot of mistakes or give the Avalanche breakaway chances, they should handily beat a poor team in Colorado.
Colorado Avalanche
There’s no way to sugar coat it. The Avalanche are an extremely poor team. With just one win in the last eight games, and only 12 wins on the year, the Avalanche’s season is all but over.
Nothing has gone right for this team on offense or defense this year.
The Avalanche are dead last in goals this season with 72. That says a lot about how the team’s season is going right there.
Giving up 116 goals this year hasn’t helped the team’s cause. A minus-44 goal differential doesn’t bode well for the last place team in the Central Division.
The Avalanche doesn’t have many weapons. The top scorer on the team, center Matt Duchene, has 13 goals and 11 assists on the year. However, he only has two points (1G, 1A) in his last five games.

There’s just no way you can expect this team to win any game. The Rangers will have to play very poorly to lose to the Avalanche on Saturday.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The OVER is 4-0-1 in New York’s last five games
- Colorado has lost nine straight games at home
Free New York Rangers vs. Colorado Avalanche NHL Hockey Prediction:
The Rangers are a great team playing in the toughest division in the NHL. Colorado is pretty much the opposite, playing in a tough Central Division, but in last place. Rangers get the W on the road.
