The Nashville Predators will look to tighten the gap with the Winnipeg Jets with a win over a struggling Vegas Golden Knights team on Saturday night. And while the Predators have certainly not played well recently, they were able to half their current three-game skid to the Montreal Canadiens in their last matchup.
The Vegas Golden Knights continue to struggle, primarily on the defensive end, in allowing opponents too many scoring opportunities. They were scored on for the 15th time in their last three games as the Toronto Maple Leafs pulled away late in the contest with three goals in the final period en route to the victory.
The Nashville Predators are within reach of the Winnipeg Jets within the Central division. However, after winning five of six games at one point, the Predators are now losers of four of their last five games despite picking up a victory over the Montreal Canadiens in their last outing.
The Predators jumped on top early with a goal by Ryan Hartman at the 9:49 of the first period. However, Nashville also received two goals in the final period from Bryan Boyle along with Viktor Arvidsson which sealed the much-needed victory.
And while the Predators allowed 35 shots on goal to the Canadiens, Nashville ended the game with 38 total shots. Finally, Pekke Rinne (20-15-2) finished with 34 saves along with a .971 save percentage while Carey Price (.921 SV%) had 35 saves on the night in defeaat.
The Predators were able to take care of the Golden Knights in their matchup in January as they were able to get goals from Ryan Johanssen along with Nick Bonino in the second period. Also, they were able to hold the Golden Knights scoreless in the final period to pick up the slim, one-point victory.
Vegas Golden Knights
The Vegas Golden Knights continue to reside within third place within the Pacific division standings. However, the Golden Knights have been horrible recently in dropping seven of their last ten outings.
And while the offense was able to post three goals during the contest, the defense allowed six goals to the Toronto Maple Leafs as Vegas has allowed an average of five goals per game during a current three-game skid. Their ultimate undoing was a three goal final period for the Maple Leafs thanks to Auston Matthews, who obtained two power play goals and an assist for Toronto.
The Golden Knights received goals from Paul Stastny, Oscar Lingbergh, along with William Karlsson in the loss. However, shot leader in Jonathan Marchessault (218) has gone scoreless during their current losing streak while only having a total of seven shots on goal during this time.
In all, the Golden Knights have dropped their last five home games as their offense is averaging a bit over two goals per outing. On the other hand, their defense has been atrocious in allowing opponents over four goals, on average, during this time.
NHL Betting Trends:

4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Nashville Predators ML (+105)
The Predators will indeed show and prove versus a Golden Knights team that has not been able to capitalize from playing in front of their home crowd.
Of course, their last matchup was a tight game was a tight one that took place almost three weeks ago; However, one should look for the Predators to come out with a victory in the end by a 4-1 score.
Again, Nashville remains in the thick of things within their respective division and can desperately use a win versus a team in Vegas that struggles on offense, yet, possesses one of the best defenses in the NHL.
NHL Free Score Prediction: Predators 4 – Golden Knights 1
The Predators have won three of their last four road games while the Golden Knights have struggled on the ice at home, recently. It is for this reason that Nashville will control the pace of this game throughout while picking up a much-needed, second-straight victory on Saturday.
