How bad are the Predators that they are +140 underdogs against a Dallas team that has lost five in a row? The answer – pretty bad, as Nashville is in a bit of a rut having dropped 4 of 5 themselves.
Somebody has to win this game, but the -160 Dallas line just seems like way too much, even at home. For two teams with high hopes, the Preds and Stars are ahead of only the Red Wings in the Central basement.
How does Nashville ‘get right?’ They are just 1-5 on the road this season and suffered an atrocious 4-2 loss to Detroit on Saturday. The Predators needed a goal with 1:00 left to get a 3-2 win over Detroit on Thursday.
The biggest problem for the Predators is that their offense is nearly nonexistent so far in February. Nashville has been held to 2 goals or less in 5 of their last 7 games, and now rank 28th in the NHL in scoring (2.3 goals/game).
There’s just nobody stepping up to help Filip Forsberg right now. Even the star left-winger has scored a goal in just two of the last 10 games, but nobody else on the Predators has more than 3 goals in 15 games on the season.
Your offense not scoring doesn’t do any favors for the combo of Juuse Saros and Pekka Rinne in net, Rinne got pulled against Detroit after allowing 3 goals on 24 shots, but had allowed 2 scores or less in the four prior.
The good news for the Stars is that they’re meeting a team with similar struggles on Tuesday night. Dallas is in full Jekyll & Hyde, winning their first four of the season but going 1-7 since then.
It’s looking like the strong start to the year may have been a fluke for Dallas, who got started later than other teams due to COVID concerns. Two of the Stars’ four wins came against Detroit, and the other two vs. these Predators.
Dallas is doing a much better job of finding the back of the net than Nashville, ranking 9th in the NHL with 3.3 goals/game. Joe Pavelski has done a lot of the damage, scoring in 7 of the last 10 games.
Losing the last four games has been a bit understandable for the Stars as they’ve been without Alexander Radulov who is out indefinitely with a lower body injury. Radulov has 11 points in just 8 games this year.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Predators are 1-4 last 5 overall
- Predators are 1-7 last 8 road games
- Over is 5-2 in Predators last 7 road games
- Stars are 0-5 last 5 overall
- Stars are 0-4 last 4 home games
- Predators are 1-5 last 6 in Dallas
Free Nashville Predators vs. Dallas Stars NHL Prediction:
Dallas has welcomed Anton Khudobin back after he was suspended for disciplinary reasons, but he gave up 4 goals to Carolina last Thursday. Jake Oettinger started Saturday, serving up 3 goals on just 24 shots.
The thing is Nashville cannot score right now. To make matters worse the Predators have lost 5 of their last 6 at American Airlines Arena so this looks like a great opportunity for the Stars.
