Heading into Denver Nashville are proving to be one of the teams to beat, with a blow out win (6-1) over Detroit propelling them to the number two slot in the Central Division.
Meanwhile Colorado are on a five game slide, although still hanging onto third place in the Central division. So this two points would represent a swing in their respective places in the division. It’s a big two points.
So who to pick? Are the predators a growing powerhouse, or have they just been dominating weaker teams? Is Colorado showing their true colors after a strong start to the season?

Nashville Predators
Nashville is clearly off to a strong start on the season. However, despite their showing against Red Wings they have struggled to score at times.
A defensive minded team, they often rely on offensive defenseman Roman Josi, to either score, or create chances from the blue line.
Forwards, Nick Bonino and Matt Duchene make up the bulk of the rest of the team’s scoring, while in goal, Pekka Rinne is very reliable if not stellar (2.07 GAA .921 save percentage).

Colorado Avalanche
A big part of Colorado’s losing slide is the loss of team captain, Gabriel Landeskog, along with Mikko Rantanen a week earlier.
They’ve juggling lines, and calling up players from their AHL affiliate ever since with mixed results.
In goal, Philipp Grubauer (2.80 GAA .918 save percentage) does his best to keep Colorado in play, but without much offensive pressure the puck has been in the Colorado end more often than not.
The Avalanche still have Nathan MacKinnon, but he’s hard pressed to make up the goal output without his top line mates to play off of.
Free Nashville Predators vs. Colorado Avalanche NHL Prediction:
Nashville is in the middle of a long road trip, and Denver is definitely stronger at home, where other teams have to adjust to the high altitude.
A lot of money will probably go to the Avalanche as there’s always a sizable betting contingent that play the averages and figure Colorado must be due for a win.
High altitude home advantage notwithstanding it’s hard to see where the Avalanche are going to find goal production. Nashville knows if it can just shut down MacKinnon they can pretty much keep Colorado out of their net.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Predators ML
Take the predators and the under. Nashville’s strong defensive play should shutdown Colorado, but still likely struggle a bit offensively themselves, as the high altitude and road trip take a bit of a toll.
