On Thursday night the Leafs will look to end their arch rival Montreal’s season. The Leafs grabbed a 3-1 series lead on Tuesday winning game 4 by a score of 4-0.
The Montreal Canadiens will be looking to extend their season anyway they can. They have really struggled in this series. They did manage to win game 1 but even in that game they were outshot and outplayed. If it wasn’t for Carey Price they might already be out.
Speaking of Carey Price he has been excellent in the playoffs, he has really kept his team in the series he is obviously 1-3 but he has a 2.48 GAA and a .921 save percentage. The Canadiens will need him to continue to be sharp if they want to extend this series but he is going to need his offence to wake up as well.
In the 4 games in this series Montreal has scored just 4 goals. That wouldn’t cut it in the regular season and it definitely wont in the playoffs. They are going to need their offensive stars to wake up if they want to get this series back to Quebec.
The powerplay is another area that needs immediate improvement, they are yet to score while on the powerplay. The penalty kill has been decent at 83%, offence will be key for the Habs to keep their season going.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs will be looking to finish off the Canadiens season on Thursday night. Toronto has been the better team in every part of the game in this series. They have only allowed 4 goals all series and have scored 12 of their own.
The Maple Leafs blew out the Habs on Tuesday as they were able to get 4 shots past Carey Price. Leafs got a goal from Nylander, Spezza, Thornton, and Galchenyuk. They have been able to spread the scoring around thru the first 4 games.
Maple Leafs have also played some outstanding defense and have gotten great goaltending from Jack Campbell. He is 3-1 with a 1.01 GAA and a .965 save percentage, he has been lights out and so has his defense in front of him.
The Leafs have only allowed 4 goals against in this series and have done an outstanding job of keeping Montreal to the outside and giving Campbell lots of room to see the puck. You won’t loose many games in the NHL when you are only averaging conceding 1 goal per game.
If Toronto can continue their stellar defensive play they will be hard to beat during the playoffs.
Toronto should be hungry to end this series tonight, even though they have been the much better team they won’t want to let Montreal get any momentum heading home.

Free Montreal Canadiens vs Toronto Maple Leafs NHL Prediction:
The easy pick is take the Leafs, but there is no chance I am taking a team in the playoffs at -240 that hasn’t won a series in 14 years. Yes they should win and yes they probably will win but, the total for me is more play able. I don’t see the Habs getting the offence going, it has been bad all series and nothing says it should change tonight. Price is excellent and will keep this close and low scoring. Take the Under 5.5!
