The New York Rangers took care of Montreal in game five, taking a 3-2 series lead after winning the last two games. The series shifts back to New York for game six and this is a must-win game on the road for the Canadiens.
Montreal Canadiens
Game five started well for Montreal, but finished with a loss. The Canadiens scored twice in the first period thanks to Artturi Lehkonen’s second goal of the playoffs, along with a Bredan Gallagher power play goal.
However, the defense let the team down and the offense couldn’t get going after that. The Canadiens allowed a goal in the second to tie the game and then lost on a Mika Zibanejad goal in the first overtime period.

It was another game where Carey Price played great in goal, but the team couldn’t generate enough offense to win the game. Price finished with 33 saves on 36 shots, a .917 save percentage.
In game six, Montreal has to get the offense going and take the pressure off of Price. Otherwise, the Canadiens are going home.
New York Rangers
After dropping games two and three, New York stepped up its performance and won both four and five. The Rangers won game five on Thursday night in overtime, thanks to a Mika Zibanejad goal – his first of the playoffs.
Jesper Fast scored a shorthanded goal in the first period, his second of the playoffs, while Brady Skjei tied the game in the 2nd period with his second of the playoffs.

Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist was predictably great, finishing with 34 saves on 36 shots. He had a .944 save percentage.
The Rangers can close out the series on Saturday with a win in front of its home crowd and, if it does, a lot of the credit will go to the fantastic play of Lundqvist in goal.
NHL Betting Trends:
- New York is 0-5 ATS in the last five games
- The UNDER is 6-2 in Montreal’s last eight games
Free New York Rangers vs. Montreal Canadiens Game 6 NHL Playoff Prediction:
Game six should see the Rangers close it out, in my opinion. The team has all the momentum after two straight wins and gets to play game six in front of its home crowd. I like New York to get the W and win the series.
4* Free Game 6 NHL Betting Pick: New York -115
New York has played great in the last two games and the defense/goaltending has been phenomenal. I like New York’s money line in this one.
