The Wild should be getting some attention from the betting public, being listed at +175 on Thursday despite a four game win streak.
Should Tampa Bay be listed at such a high price (-200) even though they’ve lost 3 of 4? The Lightning are also just 6-4-1 at Amalie Arena on the season.
Minnesota continues to climb their way out of the doldrums of the Central, using a 7-0-3 run over their last 10 to climb into 5th. The Wild have a 4-game win streak but face their biggest test over that span in Tampa Bay.
The Wild seem to have regained their magic in St. Paul, posting a 7-1-2 record at the xCel Energy Arena this season. Their road woes will be tested Thursday though as Minnesota is 6-10-2 going away on the year.
Is Bruce Boudreau’s team hot – or just benefiting from inferior competition. MInnesota has won at New Jersey (MIN +118), vs. Ottawa (-177), vs. Dallas (-109) and at Florida (+110).
Minnesota has built their 10 game point streak largely without goaltender Devan Dubnyk. They suffered two more blows in the injury department on Tuesday when Mikko Koivu (lower body) and Jared Spurgeon (hand) could not finish vs. Florida.
It will be Alex Stalock back in net after Kaapo Kahkonen helped engineer the win on Tuesday. Stalock has allowed 2 goals or less in 4 of the last 6, and has a 4-0-2 record over that span.
Tampa Bay Lightning
It was hard to expect Tampa Bay to match last season’s record setting President’s Trophy pace, but the Lightning being in 6th place in the Atlantic is truly shocking.
While everybody is waiting for the Lightning to ‘flip the switch’, they continue to struggle having lost 3 of the last 4. TB has the #4 ranked scoring offense in hockey though, and have at least 3 goals in 8 of the last 10.
As expected, Nikita Kucherov is leading the way for Tampa with 12 points in the last 6 games. The Lightning are just .500 over that span though.
Tampa Bay has seen their struggles on defense this season, exhibited by ranking 3rd worst in the league in SOG against. It’s not really Minnesota’s game to fire a lot of shots though (25th).
Andrei Vasilevskiy has given up 2 goals or less in 4 of the last 6, but gave up a combined 8 in those other two starts. HIs save percentage is just .903 on the year and with a human-looking 10-7-1 record.

Free Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Minnesota Wild NHL Prediction:
Minnesota has their biggest test during their 4-game win streak, and Tampa Bay is desperate for a win. The -200 on Tampa Bay doesn’t offer a great ROI, but expect goals to be at a premium in this one.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Under 6
Stalock has had some strong outings and 2 goals is about the max to expect from the Wild on the road.
