On Thursday night these two teams will finish up the 2 game set in Missouri. The Blues took Wednesday nights game by a score of 4-0. The Blues have been one best teams since the trade deadline, they have gotten most of there players back from injury and have played their way into the playoffs. The Wild have been no slouches this year either with the 8th best record in the NHL.
Minnesota Wild
The Minnesota Wild will be coming into this game with a bad taste in their mouth after losing last night 4-0. Despite loosing they still are one of the NHL’s hottest teams going 6-2-2 in their last 10. Minnesota come into this game fully locked into the 3rd spot in the west division so not much to play for except pride and confidence. I would imagine that their confidence took a hit after getting smacked last night by this very Blues team.
The Wild have really struggled when playing the Blues, in their last 10 vs St. Louis they are 3-4-3. With that being said, the Wild are still one of the toping scoring offences in the league averaging 3.30 goals per game which is good enough for 8th in the league.
My best guess would be that 24 year old goalie Kaapo Kahkonen will be in net for the Wild, Cam Talbot played on Wednesday and didn’t have a great outing giving up 4 goals on 27 shots. With really nothing to play for I would think they wont go back to back with Talbot. Although I think Talbot is the better goalie Kahoken has put up very respectable numbers this season with a 16-7-0 record and a 2.70 GAA, he gives the wild a great shot to win every time he is between the pipes.
St. Louis Blues
The St. Louis Blues come in red hot in their last 10 games only once in the last 10 have they not gotten at least one point (6-1-3 L10). They have played much better hockey in the last few weeks, they have had to deal with a tremendous amount of injuries this season and now that they are finally getting healthy they are playing some of their best hockey that they have played this year.
The Blues early season struggles were on the defensive side of the puck and in goal, they would be scoring a bunch of goals but couldn’t keep the puck out of their net, Binnington has been much better of late. Ville Huso played on Wednesday so I would assume Binnington will be the starter for the regular season finale. Binnington has a 17-14-8 record but a good 2.64 GAA and .911 save percentage. Look for Binnington to start and to keep is recent run of good play.
As mentioned above St. Louis has really played their bets hockey vs this Wild team 7-1-2 in their last 10 vs Minnesota. They completely dominated the Wild on the scoreboard on Wednesday, and with recent trends I wouldn’t expect that to stop here. Blues are hot and playing some of their best hockey!

Free Minnesota Wild vs St. Louis Blues NHL Prediction:
This is a tough game to pick, both teams can’t go up or down in the standings, both teams will be tired after playing last night and both teams just want the playoffs to start. For a pick I would have to take the Blues on the moneyline, they have been the better team of late and have absolutely dominated the Wild, plus the blues are at home. Everything points to the blues and that’s where I am headed. St. Louis Blues Money Line.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: St. Louis Blues ML +100
I really like backing St. Louis here they have just played the Wild so tough this year. I would also look at the over in this match, with nothing really riding on the game expect an open game with lots of chances.
