Don’t look now but the Seattle Kraken are red hot. This teams started off the season 2-3-2, but have now won six of their last seven which includes a franchise best five game winning streak.
Seattle comes into Friday night’s game with Minnesota well rested, having had the last two nights off following a 5-1 home win over Nashville on Tuesday. That brought the Kraken home record to 3-3-1.
While Seattle is rested ahead of Friday night’s tilt, the Wild are wrapping up a three-game trip to the West Coast where they have lost to the Kings (1-0) and most recently beat the Ducks 4-1 on Wednesday. Minnesota is a solid 4-2-1 on the road this season.
Minnesota Wild
The Wild finally got some offense on Wednesday with Kirill Kaprizov taking matters into his own hands launching a career high 9 shots and having two of them find the back of the net.
Kaprizov was frustrated with Minnesota being shut out the two previous games one of which was a 4-0 loss to these Kraken in St. Paul last Thursday. The Wild will look for revenge after losing that game as -163 favorites.
Wednesday was the second time Kaprizov had scored multiple goals in the last four games, giving him 10 on the year which is tied for 4th most in the league. Mats Zuccarello is second on the Wild with 13 points.
What was impressive about Minnesota’s win on Wednesday was that they were playing on the back-to-back and had #2 goaltender Filip Gustavsson in net stopping 31 of 32 shots. Marc-Andre Fleury will likely be back between the pipes in Seattle and he’s held four of the last six opponents to 2 goals or less.
Seattle Kraken
The Kraken try to get a home win streak going on Friday night as their road record (5-1-1) outshines the 3-3-1 mark at Climate Pledge Arena this season. With 18 points on the year Seattle has climbed into 3rd place in the Pacific.
Seattle has been a pretty profitable play over their win streak, beating Calgary at +195, Minnesota at +148, and the Penguins at +171. Oddsmakers are starting to wise up though, making the Kraken a -112 favorite against the Predators on Tuesday listing them at just -105 in the rematch against the Wild.
Fleury has had a solid year in net so far for Minnesota, but Seattle got to him last week scoring 4 goals on just 23 shots. That was just the second Wild loss in regulation over the previous eight games so it was a big win for the Kraken.
Seattle goaltender Martin Jones picked up his first shutout of the season in the previous meeting with Minnesota, having a leisurely day with just 22 saves. He’s on a four game stretch where he’s allowed just four goals total.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Wild are 10-3 in their last 13 vs. Pacific
- Wild are 2-5 in their last 7 games following a win
- Wild are 1-5 in their last 6 vs. a team with a winning record
- Under is 4-0 in Wild last 4 overall
- Kraken are 5-0 in their last 5 overall
- Under is 4-1 in Kraken last 5 overall
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Under 6.5
There seems to be one very obvious way to play this game and that’s on the ‘under.’ Minnesota scored 4 goals on Wednesday, but that’s against a Ducks team that has the worst defense in the NHL. The Wild were shut out their previous two games.
Jones has been solid in net for Seattle over his last four starts, and Fleury is well rested after sitting out the second leg of a back-to-back on Wednesday. Goals are going to be at a premium here.
