Minnesota hasn’t become a seller ahead of the late February trade deadline just yet. The Wild scored a 4-2 win over New Jersey on Saturday to break a 4 game win streak and keep the team in 7th in the West. Things don’t get much easier however with a back-to-back on Sunday against the 2nd place team in the East the New York Islanders.
Minnesota Wild
The win over New Jersey on Saturday was Minnesota’s 1st since returning from the Winter break. The victory should be taken with a grain of salt however against a bad New Jersey team. Over their previous 4 game losing streak the Wild have dropped winnable contests to Chicago as a -179 favorite and Edmonton at -166.

Devan Dunyk was solid in net Saturday for the win but he’ll likely give way to Alex Stalock in the back-to-back. Minnesota’s 2nd stringer has made one start since the all-star break, allowing 4 goals on 31 shots in an OT loss to the Blackhawks.
New York Islanders
New York will also be in a back-to-back after a 4-3 win over Colorado on Saturday. The victory came in the Islanders second straight OT game after a SO win over New Jersey on Thursday. The Islanders are 3-1-1 since returning from the Winter break.

New York also burned up their #1 goaltender on Saturday but it’s a much bigger loss as Robin Lehner was 7-2-1 over his last 10 starts. Thomas Greiss is probable for Sunday but he’s also been solid allowing just 1 goal in two starts since the all-star break.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Wild are 1-4 their last 5 overall
- Wild are 1-4 their last 5 on 0 days rest
- Islanders are 6-1 their last 7 home games
- Islanders are 18-6 their last 24 overall
Free Minnesota Wild vs. New York Islanders NHL Prediction:
It’s hard to see Minnesota being competitive in this one even though New York is also on a back-to-back. The Wild didn’t have that far to travel coming from New Jersey, but the Islanders will have at least been home for both games. Minnesota has looked bad since returning from break and a win over the Devils doesn’t change that fact.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: New York -141
The Islanders defense continues to stifle, especially against a downtrodden Minnesota attack.
