Revenge is in the air as Minnesota and Calgary complete their home and home series of the past week. The revenge seekers are the Wild in this one as they dropped a 4-5 SO to the Flames on Sunday in St. Paul.
One would think that Minnesota would have the odds stacked against them after already losing to Calgary and now having to get a win on the road. The Flames have absolutely stunk it up at the Saddledome as of late though.

Going against the Wild on the road has largely been a safe bet this year however. The quality of Minnesota’s skating has been night and day depending on where they play. Something has to give in this one.
Minnesota Wild
There are some things to like about Minnesota tonight, even after losing at home to the Flames last game. First off that defeat happened on Sunday and was the last game for the Wild, they have had the last 3 nights off.
Another is that the teams were very evenly matched in St. Paul. Minnesota held leads of 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, and 4-3 before ultimately losing in a SO. It was a contest of alternating scores.
Now for the reasons why Minnesota may struggle in this matchup. The biggest one is that it’s on the road where the Wild are just 9-13-2 on the season.
Minnesota is also down to goaltender #2 as Devan Dubnynk is on a leave of absence to care for his wife. Alex Stalock gets the nod and he’s allowed 4+ goals in 4 of his last 6 appearances.
Calgary Flames
While Minnesota has had the last 3 nights off, Calgary was in action on Tuesday in a 2-1 win at Chicago as -133 favorites. It was the Flames’ second victory in a row – but both of those games were on the road.
For whatever reason, Calgary can’t seem to get things going at Scotiabank Saddledome, losing 5 of their last 6 at home. The lone win over that span came against the lowly Rangers when Calgary was listed at -165.
Over the cold streak at home the Flames have lost to Chicago (CAL -174), Vancouver (-198), Montreal (-132), Pittsburgh (-111) and Carolina (-106). Anything can happen Thursday night vs. Minnesota.
David Rittich is likely in net for the Flames making sure anything doesn’t happen for the Wild. Rittich gave up 4 goals to the Wild on Sunday and 4 to the Blackhawks in the start prior.
