Can the degree of difficulty get any harder for Los Angeles on Thursday night. Not only do the lowly Kings have to travel to Vegas, they have to do so on the back leg of consecutive games after hosting Dallas on Wednesday night.
Make no mistake, if the Kings could somehow pull off a win it would offer a great payout at +230. It’s not the most unlikeliest of scenarios as L.A. won 4-3 back in mid-November, but the 0 days rest really throws a wrench in things.

The Golden Knights just need to keep on keeping on in this one. Vegas has won 4 of their last 5 and has minimal travel the last two weeks. Even so, a -263 price tag is really down there on the risk/reward spectrum.
Los Angeles Kings
The Kings really haven’t been great this season, pulling away from the pack in reverse for last place in the Western Conference. L.A. is just a point up on New Jersey for fewest points in the league.
Being in the back-to-back sure doesn’t help a Kings team that has gone just 6-14-3 on the road this season. LA did go a 4-7 in 11 road games in December. Thursday marks the first away tilt of the calendar year for LA.
LA has actually won 2 of their last 3 games on 0 days rest, one against Detroit and one against a quality Winnipeg squad. Most recently on December 28th the Kings lost 2-3 at Vancouver a night after a game in San Jose.
Los Angeles is set to go with Jonathan Quick in net vs. Dallas on Wednesday, so Jack Campbell gets the nod Thursday in Vegas. Campbell has just an .894 save % on the year and allowed 4 goals on 38 shots vs. Nashville last time out.
Vegas Golden Knights
The only danger Vegas faces on Thursday is overlooking a tired LA squad. The Golden Knights have Columbus on Saturday but that’s hardly a ‘look-ahead’ scenario.
Vegas should be on high alert in this one mostly because they lost to the Kings 3-4 on November 16th as -150 favorites. LA took a 2-0 lead in the 1st period and never looked back in that game.
Malcolm Subban got the start last time out vs. LAK but it should be Marc-Andre Fleury between the pipes on Thursday. Fleury needs to get right after allowing 4 goals in each of his last three starts.
Another reason Vegas isn’t a bad puck line bet is because they have set up shop at home for the last 5 games and 6 of the last 7. The last time the Golden Knights went on the road was a quick trip to Anaheim on December 27th.
