The first week of the NHL regular season was filled with several injuries to big name players, and the groin injury to Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick may just have been the biggest.
Los Angeles will still be without Quick when they head to Minnesota to faceoff against the Wild on Tuesday night.
Los Angeles
Not only is Quick a two time Vezina Trophy finalist, he has also guarded the net for the Kings on two different Stanley Cup Finals runs.
His status is now on a week-to-week basis as injured reserve after suffering an injury in the season opener against the San Jose Sharks.
It is still up in the air whether or not he will require surgery which would lead to him missing at least the next 3-4 months.
His injury is in the same area as a Grade 2 groin strain Quick suffered almost three years ago that led him missing almost two months of starting time.

Jeff Zatkoff will fill in between the pipes during Quick’s absence.
The Kings are coming off of a 4-2 loss to the Flyers on Friday and look to change the direction the season has started in for Los Angeles.
Both Brayden McNabb and Drew Doughty scored goals against the Flyers on Friday night and will need to be part of the action for the Kings to have success on Tuesday.
Minnesota
The Wild started the season with a loss in the opener in St. Louis to the Blues, but were able to rebound at home against Winnipeg Saturday night by the final of 4-3.
Chris Stewart stole the show against the Jets, scoring a goal, having an assist, plus doing some work with his hands in a fight. Eric Staal was also able to light up the lantern while Devan Dubnyk had 14 saves for the Wild.
Coach Bruce Boudreau had to light a fire under his team following the first period, leading to Minnesota putting the puck in the back of the net three different times during the second frame.

After allowing nine shots on goal during the first 20 minutes, the Minnesota defense tightened up a bit and only allowed a total of eight shots in the second and third periods combined.
NHL Hockey Handicapping Trends
- The Kings are 1-6 in their previous 7 games against the Western Conference.
- The Wild is 9-4 during their last 13 games following two days of rest.
Free Los Angeles Kings vs. Minnesota Wild NHL Hockey Prediction
Any way you choose to look at Los Angeles, they haven’t looked to be on point so far and goes a lot further than just missing their man in the net. The Wild have had some issues getting started, but have been able to build a rhythm late in games this season.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Minnesota Wild -140
The Wild were able to win 2 out of 3 against the Kings in Minnesota last season and I think Tuesday will be more of the same.
The Kings lack a huge part of their strength without Quick and I don’t think they can do enough with the puck on offense to make up the difference.
I like the Wild in this one over 5
