The Florida Panthers will make the short trip to Tampa on Tuesday to take on the Lightning in an Atlantic Division matchup. The Panthers were able to get the best of the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 Saturday night to get their second win of the season.
Tampa Bay was able to get their season off to a 2-0 start after handing New Jersey a 3-2 loss on Saturday also.
Florida came away with four victories the five games these two squared off last season, including two of the three that were played in Tampa.
Florida Panthers
The Panthers have been impressive through their first two games of the regular season. They have averaged three goals per game while only giving up a pair of goals in their 2-0 start.
The one area where Florida could definetily use some attention is on power plays where the Panthers have yet to convert on an opportunity. That being said, they have yet to give up a goal while they have been a man down.

Florida had no problem skating away with the win against Detroit last Saturday.
Throughout the first period, the Panthers outshot the Red Wings 16-9 and had a 2-1 lead at intermission.
At just 1:10 into the game, Vincent Trocheck lit up the lantern for the Panthers. Colton Sceviour was then able to find the net just past the midway point of the period.
The Red Wings were finally able to get on the board three minutes later to split the lead in half. The score would not change throughout the second frame.
During the third period, Alexander Barkov was able to bag his second goal of the year at the 17:38 mark. Less than a minute later Marchessault fired a shot into an open net for his second goal of the season.
Roberto Luongo was able to notch his second win of the year making 21 saves in the process. The Panthers outshot the Red Wings by the tally of 38-22.
Tampa Bay Lightning
It wasn’t much of a surprise that the Lightning were able to win both of their first two games of the season at home. Tuesday night they will have a a chance to make it three straight on their home ice.
The Lightning are currently third in the NHL with an average of 4.5 goals per game. They have been solid on defense this season as well, only giving opponents three goals per contest.
Tampa Bay has also been impressive on the power play, taking advantage of 33.3 percent of their opportunities.
They have came out on the positive side 80 percent of the time when they are a man down on the ice.

After getting off to a slow start against the Devils, Tampa Bay was able to put together a comeback in order to remain unbeaten. New Jersey was able to jump out to a 2-0 lead after the first period.
The lightning were able to even up the score and make it a game as the second period came to an end.
The Devils were able to out shoot Tampa Bay 12-9 in the third frame, but the Lightning were able to bag the only goal of the period.
Valtteri Filppula turned on the red siren at the 5:43 mark and Tampa Bay was able to keep New Jersey in check the rest of the way through.
Ben Bishop is expected to be back in the net after Andrei Vasilevskiy won his first start of the season with 32 blocked shots.
