Coming off a solid win over New Jersey, the Panthers stay on the East Coast and head to New York to take on the Islanders.
The Islanders have lost their last two games in overtime or shootout fashion and will look to capitalize on an opportunity at home against a struggling Panthers squad.
Florida Panthers
Sitting 5th in the Atlantic Division, it’s looking less and less likely that the Panthers will have a repeat trip to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The team has just been completely changed and tinkered with to the point of distraction.

The Panthers only have three wins in their last nine games and haven’t been able to string wins together all season.
Health continues to be a really big issues for Florida. Center Nick Bjugstad is out for two weeks with a lower body injury.
There is good news, though. Starting goaltender Roberto Luongo missed the last two games with an upper-body injury but will play against the Islanders, so one of the better goaltenders in the league will be back in action.
The forward injuries haven’t gotten any better, however. Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov remain on the IR for the foreseeable future, and that really hurts the Panthers’ offense.
New York Islanders
The Islanders currently sit dead last in the Metropolitan Division, so their playoff hopes are all but over. The team simply can’t win games, despite not having a terrible team on paper.
Captain John Tavares is having a decent year with 11 goals and 16 assists. He’s posted one goal and two assists in his last five games.

Left winger Anders Lee has been good, as well. He has two goals in his last five games, giving him 14 on the year along with six assists.
The problem is, no one else can string together solid numbers like Lee and Tavares. No other player is in double digits in the goal column, which explains why the Isles rank in the bottom half of the league in goals scored (108).
New York rarely seems to get blown out in games, but lose because the team can’t consistently generate offense or find forwards that can get the puck to the net.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Florida is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 games
- The Total has gone OVER in six of New York’s last eight games
Free Florida Panthers vs. New York Islanders NHL Hockey Prediction:
I’m taking the Islanders at home. With Florida having such a tough time on and off the ice this season, it’s hard to bet on the Panthers. Isles get the W at home.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: New York -115
New York has the ability to win games, especially against teams outside the difficult Metropolitan Division. At home, I like the New York money line in this one.
