McDavid broke out of a six game goalless streak in a big way but he had help too. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored 2 goals and had an assist and Leon Draisaitl dished out 2 assists as well.
Tuesday’s game seems like it could get away from the Canucks. Edmonton is clicking and has a top 10 scoring and SOG offense. Vancouver is 30th in goals and shots allowed. Could this one just be an oddsmaker trap?
Sure Edmonton has had some defensive issues this year as their 3.2 goals allowed is 25th. Mikko Koskinen looked great against the Flames, and has allowed 2 goals or less in 4 of his last 5 appearances.
Vancouver Canucks
What’s the Vancouver angle here? Vancouver has only come out on top in one of their last five home games and have been defeated in 9 of their last 11 overall. Edmonton has won 9 of their last 11.
Vancouver did fight in Sunday’s loss to Winnipeg though. They went down 2-0 in the 1st, scored the next three, lost the lead, and tied things up in the final minute before allowing a score 0:27 into OT. What a roller coaster.
On the bright side, Elias Pettersson did break a five game goalless streak with two scores against the Jets. The Canucks also have a split with the Oilers so far on the year. That was two games in mid-January though and Edmonton has turned it on lately.
Whoever goes between Thatcher Demko and Braden Holtby has their work cut out for them in this one. Demko has 1 GA in two of his last three while Holtby gave up four on Sunday to Winnipeg. Would seem to be an easy choice.
