The Oilers made a statement in game 6, crushing the Ducks 7-1 after losing a heartbreaker in OT in game 5. The one game battle to advance will take place in Orange County at 7pm PST.
The Oilers certainly showed up for game 6, rebounding after a tough game 5 where they gave up a three goal lead late in the third period to eventually lose in OT.
The Oilers chased Ducks’ starter, John Gibson, from the crease in game 6 and put up a seven-spot in the contest.
It was Leon Draisaitl who led the Oil on the score sheet, netting a hat trick and chipping in two assists for good measure. Draisaitl now ranks second in the playoff points race with 16, behind just Evgeni Malkin’s 18.
Mark Letestu has been excellent this postseason as well, registering 5 goals and 6 assists in 12 games played.
He chipped in 2+2 in game 6, and will be a key depth scorer should Edmonton wish to advance.
Cam Talbot made 34 saves to earn the victory, and will need to replicate his performance in the do-or-die game. Talbot has a .924 SV% and a 2.51 GAA in the 2017 postseason.
The Ducks were able to rally in game 5, completing an uncanny comeback from being down 3-0 with four minutes left in the third period to earn a 4-3 OT victory.
They weren’t as fortunate in game 6, and will rely on their veteran leaders to help rally the team back for game 7.
Ryan Getzlaf has been the hands-down best Duck player so far, scoring 8 goals and leading the team with 15 points in 10 playoff games.
The captain is certainly no stranger to this big stage, and will be the prominent figure in game 7 for Anaheim.
John Gibson now has an even 3.00 GAA this Spring, and just a .903 SV%. Gibson was pulled after just six shots faced in game 6, allowing half of them past him.
The Ducks will need a huge rebound game from their netminder if they wish to move on to the Conference Finals.

Free Edmonton Oilers vs. Anaheim Ducks NHL Playoff Prediction:
The Ducks have been great at home this year, but are coming off of two games which they had no business winning, but managed to keep themselves alive.
Despite a five-minute lull in game 5, Edmonton has been the far better team of late and appears to be firing on all cylinders entering the sudden-death game.
Anaheim has the experience on their side, but the Oilers have generational talents who don’t seem to lose.

IT should be a close one, but I like how the Oilers have looked the past two.
