The Stars held on in a tough defensive battle to take game one of the Western Conference Finals 1-0. That victory gave a preview of what should be a tough, physical series where goals may be few and far between.

Oddsmakers still like the Golden Knights in game two, making them -165 favorites. Dallas is +140 to go up 2-0 in the series and the betting total is lowered a bit to 5.5.
Dallas Stars
Both teams had the quick turnaround for game 1 after needing a seventh game on Thursday to get out of the semifinals. Dallas had been in some high scoring affairs with Colorado, but proved they can win defensively too.
The Stars are actually probably better built for the lower scoring games as they ranked 2nd in the league in goals allowed during the regular season but just 26th in scoring.
Anton Khubodin was the star of the game 1 win, stopping all 25 Vegas shots. It may be a better matchup vs. the Golden Knights rather than the Avalanche, who had 4+ goals in 3 of Khubodin’s 4 last starts in the series.
Vegas Golden Knights
Obviously the biggest issue facing Vegas before game two is finding their offense. Aside from behind shut out in game one, the Golden Knights were held to 1 goal on 91 shots in games five and six vs. Vancouver.
The Golden Knights were not prepared for the physicality of Dallas as evidenced by their getting off only 25 shots. This is a team that had 43, 48, and 34 SOG in the last three of the semifinals series.
