It’s game 7 for both of the Western Conference Semifinals series’ as Dallas and Colorado do battle in the early game and Vegas and Vancouver meet for all the marbles in the afternoon.
The Avalanche have fought back from an 0-2 deficit to tie up their series with the Stars. Colorado has the momentum of two straight wins on their side while scoring a combined 10 goals. Can Dallas mount a comeback?
The last two games of this series have fans wondering if the Stars’ nice offensive output in the first two games was just a fluke. Dallas scored 10 goals to take a 2-0 lead, but have been held to just four total in games 5 and 6.
The Stars have the talent to contend with the Avs’ high-powered offense as Jamie Benn, Joe Pavelski, and Miro Heiskanen all have multiple goals. The biggest question is the Stars’ defense.
Dallas went back to Anton Khubodin in net in game 6 and he served up 3 goals on just 23 shots. Khubodin is still the best option though as Ben Bishop has allowed 4 goals in each of his playoff starts and is likely injured.
Colorado can smell the finish line after battling back with wins in three of the last four. The Avs have netted 20 goals over that span and have the Stars’ goaltenders spinning in circles.
Nathan Mackinnon is looking like an MVP of this postseason as he has 12 points this series. Colorado may have to go without Gabriel Landeskog (knee) in game 7 though. The left-winger has scored twice, but is a vital part of the top line.
What’s impressive about Colorado’s wins the last two games is that they’ve been doing it with 3rd string goaltender Michael Hutchinson. He has allowed 4 goals on 62 shots to what was a red hot Dallas offense.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Stars are 6-2 last 8 on 1 days rest

- Avalanche are 6-16 last 22 conference semifinals games
Free Dallas Stars vs. Colorado Avalanche NHL Prediction:
Game 6 was the first time a contest in this series fell ‘under’ the total as Dallas scored just 1 goal. The ‘over’ 6 is a solid play as the teams had that in the 3rd period alone in game 3.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Over 6
Dallas has to remember they are playing a 3rd string goaltender
