The Colorado Avalanche, losers of three straight and, well, the majority of its games, will head to New Jersey to take on the Devils.
New Jersey, fresh off a 4-1 loss to San Jose, will look to grab a much-needed, albeit futile, win at home against the Avalanche.
Colorado Avalanche
Colorado has been one of the worst teams in the league all season. There’s no way sense in beating around the bush: this team is tanking and for good reason.
The Avalanche rank dead last in goals scored on the year (107) and third to last in goals against (181). That minus-74 goal differential can definitely explain why this team has only won 15 games all season.

The team simply doesn’t have the staff to get things done against the top two-thirds of the NHL. Colorado only has four forwards with 10 or more goals on the year.
Center Matt Duchene leads all scorers on the team with 15 goals. He also has 17 assists on the year. However, over his last five games he doesn’t have a single goal and has three assists.
Center Nathan MacKinnon is a guy you would have expected to have a better goal-scoring year. He has just 12 on the season, along with 26 assists. Over his last five games, he has a goal and four assists.
New Jersey Devils
On the goal-scoring front, the Devils aren’t much better than the Avalanche. Sitting 28th in the league in goals scored, New Jersey has just 128 total goals on the season.
The Devils have just three players with more than 10 goals. Taylor Hall, traded to New Jersey before the season began, leads the team with 15 goals. He also has 16 assists on the year. Over his previous five games, he has two goals and three assists.
Right wing Kyle Palmieri has been the team’s second best scorer. On the year, he has 14 goals along with 18 assists. He has three goals and an assist over his last five games.

Defensively, New Jersey has been decent, but not great. The team ranks 17th in the league in goals allowed (157). Frankly, the slightly better defense should be enough of an advantage against a very poor Colorado team.
As long as the Devils can put a couple in the back of the net, this game should go to NJ.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Colorado is 2-5 ATS in the last seven games
- The OVER is 4-2 in New Jersey’s last six games
Free Colorado Avalanche vs. New Jersey Devils NHL Hockey Prediction:
This won’t be a pretty game and the team with the better defense should get the win here. Considering that’s New Jersey, I predict the Devils get the W at home.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: UNDER 5
Neither team is good offensively or defensively, really. This could either be a high-scoring shootout or a very ugly, low-scoring battle. I’m predicting the latter and taking the Under in this one.
