Two teams on the opposite ends of the playoff spectrum meet up Saturday night in New Jersey. The Devils are the current owners of the fewest points in the league, while Colorado is a 9-1 favorite to win the Stanley Cup.
Just because Colorado is easily the better team on paper in this matchup doesn’t necessarily mean they are a sure thing – especially with a price tag of -175 on the road.

New Jersey is also kind of on a run – by their standards. The Devils have somehow rattled off 3 straight wins and have gone 6-3-1 in their last 10. This is prime upset city for the Avs and with a nice +155 Devils win payout.
Colorado Avalanche
Colorado is by no means out of the woods despite their impressive 7-3 win over St. Louis on Thursday. That victory in all it’s glory, was just the Avs’ 2nd in their last 7 games.
Jared Bednar’s team is still in a good spot with 52 points, just 6 below Central leading St. Louis. Without some drastic changes though this looks like a team that is going to have to pull out 6-5 and 5-4 wins here on out.
The Avalanche have allowed 5+ goals in alternating games since December 21st vs. Chicago. That would mean a big night from the New Jersey offense as the Avs won 7-3 on Thursday. New Jersey is 3rd worst in scoring on the year though.
Philipp Grubauer got the win last time out, but he did give up 3 goals on 27 shots to the Blues. Grubauer gave up 4+ goals in 3 of 5 games prior which means even the Devils could have a solid offensive night Saturday.
New Jersey Devils
When you rank 29th in goals scored and 30th in goals allowed you’re gonna have a bad time. That’s exactly where the Devils are overall on the season, but for whatever reason the team has turned it around as of late.
New Jersey has a 3-game win streak and have been victorious in 4 of 5 overall. The Devils have rewarded bettors over that span, paying out +135, +119, +157, and +190. Hard to go against a team after a run like that.
Colorado’s win over St. Louis was impressive, but their 4-7 loss to Winnipeg the game before (as -200 favorites) gives New Jersey a second look in this one. The Devils are just 6-8-6 at home on the year though.

Points should be on the plate tonight. The Devils are playing with a bit of momentum after winning 4 of their last 5 and the Avs put it in the net no matter who they face, especially the worst defense in the league.
