The NHL playoffs are officially underway. Lines are going live with the most up to date being at BOVADA & You can check out BODOG if you’re in Canada. NHL Props, series prices, and game by game NHL lines are posted.
The series isn’t over until you lose four games, but it would behoove the Avs to get a win sooner rather than later if they want any chance at advancing. Dallas has taken a 2-0 lead after winning 5-2 and 5-3 in the semifinals.
Coming into this series it was Colorado’s offense that was supposed to put on the show but Dallas has netted 10 pucks in two games. The total is still just 5.5, is this a matchup where you just take the over every night?
Colorado Avalanche
Surprisingly enough, Colorado is still favored to win game three despite falling into an 0-2 hole. The Avs have wasted all the momentum of their 4-1 series win over Arizona last round and now must play catch-up.
The Avalanche definitely have the offense to keep up with Dallas, on paper at least. Gabriel Landeskog has three points in two games, Nathan Mackinnon five, and Mikko Rantanen three as well. What Colorado needs is defense.
One of the good things for Colorado is that they have goaltending depth. What’s not good is that Philipp Grubauer got rocked for three goals on 10 shots in game one and Pavel Francouz surrendered four scores on 26 shots Monday.
Dallas Stars
Dallas might just match up really well with the Avalanche. Counting the victories in game one and two, the Stars have taken 6 of the last 7 from Colorado.
Dallas was 4-0 in head-to-head matchups during the regular season but did fall 0-4 in a round robin restart game. Regardless, the Stars offense is in the zone right now scoring 5+ goals in 5 of the last 7.
Of course, don’t forget the job Anton Khubodin is doing in net against Colorado’s top 5 scoring offense. Khubodin has allowed 5 goals in two games, but he’s also faced 71 shots for a respectable .929 save percentage.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Avalanche are 7-19 in last 26 conference semifinals games
- Stars are 5-0 last 5 overall
- Avalanche are 1-6 last 7 head to head meetings

This line just feels like it’s pushing towards a Colorado win. Why would Dallas be an underdog after two dominating performances and five straight wins in the postseason overall?

**NOTE** – The 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifiers will begin Saturday, Aug. 1 in Edmonton and Toronto. The top four teams in both conferences will play a 3-game round robin for seeding in the First Round.
