It’s the high-flying Avalanche (45-27-4) rolling into Chicago to take on the rebuilding Blackhawks (21-44-9), and this one’s got all the makings of a wild ride in the Windy City!

Mackenzie Blackwood is expected to get the nod for Colorado, and he’s been steady as they come lately. Despite a tough-luck loss to St. Louis, he’s been sharp in March with a rock-solid 2.23 goals-against and a .912 save percentage. The Avs are charging toward the playoffs, and Blackwood’s form has played a big part.

At the other end, it’s likely Spencer Knight for the Blackhawks. After a brief spark, he’s struggled in recent starts, giving up four or more goals in three straight. Chicago’s young blue line hasn’t done him many favors.

Colorado took the lead with a goal at 17:06 in the second period, but the Predators responded with five unanswered goals. The Avalanche’s second goal came at 17:43 in the third period, narrowing the deficit to 3-2 before the Predators added two empty-net goals.

Chicago Blackhawks

With a 4-2 win over the Ducks, the Blackhawks improved to 21-44-9. As underdogs on the puck line, Chicago covered with the victory. The total for the game was set at 6.5 goals, but the combined score of 6 fell just short.

Four different players scored for the Blackhawks, who led 4-1 before the Ducks added a late goal. Isaak Phillips opened the scoring at 7:03 in the first period.
