Was Sunday night’s win by Chicago staving off the inevitable or a sign of things to come? Chicago was able to keep their reinvigorated season going with a 3-1 win over Vegas but still faces a 3-1 series hole.
Expect the Golden Knights to be much more focused on Tuesday night. Vegas was guilty of getting complacent last time out, thinking they had this series in the bag.
Chicago Blackhawks
Chicago has proven they are not going out likely in this series, despite being up against the #1 seed in the West. The ‘Hawks won Sunday, and realistically had a chance at a game two victory before falling 4-3 in OT.
There’s reasons to like Chicago at +165 on Tuesday, the first being maybe some signs of life from Alex Debrincat who netted his first goal of the restart on Sunday. Patrick Kane hasn’t found the back of the net in the last six though.
Another factor in Chicago being undervalued is that Corey Crawford may be getting in the zone. The Chicago goaltender stopped 48 of 49 SOG on Sunday and only gave up two scores in game three.
Vegas Golden Knights
Is it time for Vegas to put Chicago out of their misery? The Golden Knights seemed to believe their own hype heading into Sunday’s game thinking they can just show up and win. Instead the Hawks handed Vegas their first loss of the restart.
In the back of his mind, Peter DeBoer has to at least have some concerns about his offense. Vegas has scored just 3 goals the last two games after netting 4+ in each of the five games since the restart.
Vegas is still the significant favorite on Tuesday mostly because of the constant that is Robin Lehner. The Golden Knight goaltender is by and large having success against his former team, but that’s more on a defense that hasn’t allowed more than 25 shots in his last three starts.
