They by no means deserved it, but the St. Louis Blues literally stole Game 1 from the Blackhawks.
Now, the Blackhawks will look to avoid an unfortunate 2-0 hole as they look to once again dominate play in Game 2.
Chicago Blackhawks
Chicago did everything right on Wednesday except put the puck in the back of the net. The Blackhawks outshot the Blues 35-18, but mixed in 5 failed power play attempts.

The one place Chicago lost in was the hitting. The Blues out hit them 41-24 as the Hawks found themselves on the ground a lot and really getting messages sent to them.
Despite outshooting the Blues, Chicago has to have some bumps and bruises from getting hit all night long.
Chicago was dominant on the defensive end, as they never let the Blues get a clean look on goal.
D Niklas Hjalmarsson recorded 5 of the 21 blocked shots the Hawks had. Chicago consistently had somebody in front of the puck, never letting the Blues get an open shot.
St. Louis Blues
David Backes was first to admit his team didn’t play well. He was also the first to admit he wouldn’t be apologizing for the unattractive goal.
St. Louis had almost no chances on goal throughout the entire game, but a fortune bounce that went off a Blackhawks defender and then into the net resulted in the Blues literally stealing Game 1.
St. Louis will certainly need to step their game up offensively and provide more of a threat here in Game 2.

Brian Elliott was flawless in the victory.
Elliott turned aside 35 shots and also stopped a breakaway from Jonathan Toews in the 2nd period which turned out to be the play of the game. Chicago peppered the goal all night long, but Elliott never broke.
