The 2019 NHL season is in full swing and several teams will be on the ice for their first game that counts on Friday. Two of these teams are the Chicago Blackhawks and the Philadelphia Flyers who will be on the ice at the Wells Fargo Center.
The preseason didn’t exactly end on a positive note for Chicago who lost both of their final two games by a combined score of 14-2. The Flyers also dropped the final two preseason games, but at least they made things close.

Both teams will be looking for a positive start to the regular season on Friday.
Chicago Blackhawks
After losing 0-6 to the Washington Capitals, the Blackhawks wrapped up the preseason with an 8-2 loss in Boston to the Bruins. Center Philipp Kurashev and LW Tim Soderlund found the net for a goal.
LW Brandon Hagel and Center Mikael Hakkarainen both had an assist. Kevin Lankinen was between the pipes against 18 shots with 13 saves, giving up five goals.

Philadelphia Flyers
Philadelphia closed the preseason with a 4-3 loss at Boston and 2-1 loss in New York against the Rangers in their last game on the ice.
Against New York, Center Travis Konecny had a goal with the assist from Claude Giroux and Kevin Hayes.
Carter Hart was in the net with 31 saves on 32 shots. Giroux led the Flyers last season in points and assists and will be looking for a solid start to 2019.

Free Chicago Blackhawks vs. Philadelphia Flyers NHL Prediction:
For the record, I like the Flyers getting the win here, but that’s not where I’m putting my money. I like this total going over.
Both of these teams have struggled on the defensive end of the ice and I don’t think it was just a preseason trend. The Blackhawks gave up 16 goals in their last three games while the Flyers gave up 5.
A quick sidenote, Philadelphia scored nine goals those last three games against defenses that look stronger on paper than Chicago’s.
