On Saturday night, the Chicago Blackhawks head to Nashville, Tennessee to take on the Predators at Bridgestone Arena. When these teams last met back in January, the Preds grabbed a 4-3 win in overtime.
With just two games left for Chicago and one for Nashville, this will be the last time these two teams meet until the 2019-20 season kicks off later this year.
Sadly for the Chicago Blackhawks and their fans, the regular season is where this year will come to an end. Despite making up some ground after a rough start to the season, Chicago will likely finish either 6th or dead last in the Central Division.
Still, the team will no doubt want to get one more win against a division rival and even the season series at two games a piece.
Here is a team that’s had some stretches of fantastic play bookmarked by stretched of tough losses. Look no further than the last 10 games to prove that. The Blackhawks have won four of its last 10, with three of the losses coming in overtime fashion as well as three of the wins. This team simply can’t close games out in regulation, and that’s likely the difference maker between the postseason appearance they hoped for and the premature end to the season they’re getting.
Despite that, Chicago still seems to be a solid offensive team. The Hawks average 3.24 goals per game, something you’d expect from a team that suits up Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, and Alex DeBrincat. Kane has 42 goals, DeBrincat has 41, and Toews has 35.
Nashville will head into the playoffs as the top seed in the Central Division, and it has another stellar year of defense to thank for that. The Predators give up just 2.59 goals per game, making them the 4th best defense in the NHL.
Roman Josi continues to be a phenomenal two-way defenseman, one who’s extremely durable as well. He’s played all 81 games thus far, and should suit up for game 82, and has proven to be strong in the offensive zone. This season, he has 15 goals and 41 assists, making him 2nd on the team in total points.
It’s good that Nashville has such a strong defense, because the offense overall is pretty mediocre. The team ranks 19th in scoring, averaging just 2.85 goals per game. Without that stifling defense, this team may not be heading to the playoffs.

Free Chicago Blackhawks vs. Nashville Predators NHL Prediction:
Nashville’s won four of its last five games and it certainly won’t want to end the season with a loss to a division rival. Look for the Preds to win a close, one-goal game at home.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: UNDER
Chicago has a strong offense, but always seems to have trouble with Nashville. I believe this game gets decided in regulation and I like it to stay UNDER 6.
