The more and more Chicago Blackhawks hockey I am watching the more impressed I am, as I thought this team had no chance of making the postseason, but they now enter this game in 4th place in the division with only a 5 point gap between them and the top 3. They now look to close the gap on the team directly ahead of them in the standings as they travel to BB&T Center in Sunrise for this matchup with another surprise team in the Florida Panthers.
The Panthers are coming off of a tough overtime win against the Columbus Blue Jackets, as they got over the line in overtime thanks to Frank Vatrano’s OT goal. The Panthers are probably the slightly better team between these two, but it might be tough for the Florida Panthers to show up with the same intensity they did in their last game given the way that Blue Jackets game ended.
Chicago Blackhawks
Patrick Kane has been a big reason for the success of the Chciago Blackhawks this year, as he has been able to put up crazy numbers with 11 goals and 29 assists in just 28 games, as he continues piling on the stats and building upon his likely already established Hall of Fame career.
Kane has not had to do it all alone, though, as the Blackhawks have another budding superstar opposite of Kane in Alex DeBrincat who has already put up 15 goals and 14 assists. In terms of injuries the Blackhawks do not have a ton, but Dylan Strome and Zach Smith will both remain out for this upcoming matchup.
When we look at the goalie matchup the Blackhawks should be pretty comfortable, as Kevin Lankinen is slated to get the start and he has been really solid as of late and is yet another reason the Blackhawks are making a charge towards the playoffs. He comes in here with a 2.72 goals against average and a .919% save percentage and he will certainly be looking to build upon those numbers this Saturday evening.
Florida Panthers
The Florida Panthers did get the victory last time out against Columbus, and that made it 4 victories out of their last 5 games, as they continue their quest for the Stanley Cup which seems as real a possibility as ever for this Panthers team.
The Panthers play an exciting and up-tempo style of hockey averaging a whopping 3.38 goals per game, but they are also allowing almost 3 goals per game at the other end, so not only are the Panthers a solid team, but they are also a lot of fun to watch as well.
Jonathan Huberdeau has been the main producer of offense, although there are a few, with 10 goals and 22 assists and he will be central going forward for the Panthers if they are to make real noise during the playoffs.
Sergei Bobrovsky should be starting for the Panthers here, as he is the projected starter and he has unfortunately been the victim of the Panthers play style at times this year, as he has a GAA around 3 and a save percentage close to .900% which are mediocre numbers, but the Russian net-minder is actually having an excellent season as evidenced by his 10-2-2 overall record.

Free Chicago Blackhawks vs. Florida Panthers NHL Prediction:
This number in terms of the total is sitting at 6 which seems awfully reasonable, as I certainly could see these two teams go at it with this one turning into a shootout. These teams both prefer to play on the front foot, and neither blue-line is all that scary, so I think this one has a much higher chance of going over than under.
